Very pleased with SD's in my fave Tele

So, about ten years ago in some attempt to get the ultimate "tone" out of one of the first guitars I ever owned I installed EMG's in it. I think I might have said I was happy with them for awhile, but it was a long time ago. The fact that months after doing this I almost stopped playing it altogether should have been a sign that maybe it wasn't such a great idea.

At any rate I managed to come to my senses a few months ago and started hunting around for pickups for the Tele that would cut some of the excessive mids and highs that the Ash body tended to produce. I did alot of reading when I should have just been paying attention to the battles I've had with my Les Paul to get more high end and mids out of it.

Luckily things clicked and I went with a SD Little 59' in the bridge and a Vintage Stack in the neck. I had the little Mom and Pop shop down the street wire it up with push/pull pots for each pickup to split the coils.

It's amazing how it feels to have an old #1 back in the fold again and actually be your #1. The guitar always played nicely, but it never had the sounds I heard in my head. Even in split-coil mode, which it typically stays in, the sound is just perfect and the mids and highs are tamed. It's the most even and clear sounding guitar I've ever played.

Props to those who helped me out awhile ago with the config and some general questions. I'm so pleased with this setup I've already gotten ahold of another Little 59' with plans to do another one just like this to gig out with.

I'll post some pics when I get some time to wipe it down and clean it up; it's gone from being played every few months to being played everyday!
