Re: Vintage classic rock humbucker for a Strat
+1 for the '78 (I've tried a dimarzio VHPAF w/ A2 which is supposed to be as close as you can get without actually getting the pickup), but it's kinda bright so it might not be what you're looking for.
PATB-3 if you want the closest thing to a les paul bridge you can get in a strat
'78 if you want an articulate sound with great harmonics and a killer rhythm sound
Pearly Gates if you like the '78 but want something brighter and more vintage-y
'59 if the lack of bass in a strat concerns you and you want something with more body than a t-top
Even the A2pro will do what you want, as will the Seth Lover if you can get one trem-spaced and don't mind taking off the cover. Really, if you want 70's rock, get a marshall plexi or super lead and a treble booster/tube screamer/ RAT - any OD box basically. No matter what pickups you have, that setup will get you where you want to be.
