Hey I'm in NJ this week. If you don't like it give me directions and I'll pick it up :laugh2: :burnout:

Re: Vox Valetronix

thier great amps. i tried a 60watt version about a year ago and i thought it was really impressive

Re: Vox Valetronix

Just bought the 50 watter. I looked at all the competition, nothing compares. Keep it, you will be glad you did. Rock on.

Re: Vox Valetronix

I just played one of those Vox on friday.

I've been thinking about it ever since. I really loved the thing. So many difeerent settings and what not.

The 100 watt head Version would be sweet to get.

Re: Vox Valetronix

Well I had one for 28 days. Tried the 15 watter first and the cabinet rattled. Got the 30 watt version next for the wattage adjustment knob on the back, but found I didn't like what it did to the tone, I actually preferred that knob up full and the master volume down on most settings. I came close to keeping it, went back and forth lot. I really liked the boutique clean and the Vox AC30 channels, and the boutique overdrive except I kept getting a bunch of weird noise when I touched, even muted any string. The distortion channels didn't do it for me. At first, I thought I had something I liked with the Modern UK (I think that's what it is called), but eventually I found I liked the AC30 channel with some of my pedals better! Perhaps it was the stock 10" speaker that killed the deal, not sure. It was close to a keeper, but not quite, back to GC it went.

Re: Vox Valetronix

i've got the 30 watter. great at what it does. bought it over the spider, marshall, crate, and behringer modellers. only problem, after 4 months it shot craps. but korg replaced it for free and i wouldn't give up this thing, probably (hopefully) got a lemon the first time. it doesn't beat a small tube amp by any means, but when you want flexibility to noodle around with, nothing beats it in my opinion. and the knob to reduce output in the back is worth the price by itself for home players like myself.

Re: Vox Valetronix

The ad-30 is a fun little amp. Yeah, the speakers not great, but it hasn't been a problem for me. I enjoy it. I almost traded my AD-60 1x12 open back for a tonelab but it didn't happen. I've been messing around with the AD-60 again and it's fun, too. I think the more you know about the original amps it's modelling, the better you'll do tweaking it. Just like the originals, it can sound crappy if not set up right. But for low volume rock at home, and I mean TV volume, it's a cool option.

Re: Vox Valetronix

If you have another $100. to spend, I would consider trading up to the ad50vt. It has a 12 inch celestion and with the output adjustment knob you can overdrive the tube in this thing, O YEAH! it has a tube and still play it quite enough not to cause a marital seperation or griping parents. P.S the only place with the vfs2 foot switch instock is musicians friend.

Re: Vox Valetronix

Reliability seesms to be iffy. My 50 watter died a month after getting it, and my buddies 30 watter died in a few days.

I bought a MESA F-50 and then bought a line 6 spider II as a practice amp, and just wasn't happy with the tone (or lack therof). I returned it for the 30 watt VOX.

30 watter sounds great like the others, but it too is starting to get a little squirrerly...sigh

Re: Vox Valetronix

One problem about the Valvetronix amps, at least the AD-60 & 120, is that sometimes the headphone jack will cause problems. The amp will suddenly go silent. As posted on forums like this one, this is because the jack on the headphone input gets oxidized or dusty and the amp acts like it has headphones plugged in and kills the speaker, as it's supposed to do, when headphones are plugged in. When this happens on mine, about once a month, I plug the headphones in and out a few times and that solves the problem. Sometimes I'll sprag a bit of tuner cleaner in there, too. I suppose, I could put some tape over the headphone jack and that might eliminate the whole issue. Some people have said they solve resonance problems by covering the inputs and outputs on the back when they're not in use.

The AD-30's have a problem with the input jack coming loose. I made sure mine was tight and haven't had that problem. Also I would at least run mine into a power strip that has surge protection. These amps are more like computers, so I why chance it. Other than that my AD-60 hasn't given me any problems in more than a year. It also has about the best digital tuner I've used.

Re: Vox Valetronix

I played a strat thru the 30 at the local Sam A$$ and I totally rocked! I was torn between this and the 30watt line 6, and the vox sounded wayyyy more natural. I was jammin' some metallica and RATM tunes thru it and was very impressed. The line 6 was a total turn off in comparison. A few days later a tried an SG thru the 30 watt vox at GC and didn't care for the tone at all... it sounded ragged and undefined... I don't know why one sounded great when the other sounded like crap... maybe it has something to do with vox's quality control, or lack thereof...
