Voxy Speakers?!

I'm looking into buying a Ceriatone Dc-30 clone and am wondering what speakers to match it with in a 2x12 cab. I've looked at weber and I'm tossing up between 1 Ceramic Blue Dog and 1 Ceramic Silver Bell or 1 Ceramic Blue Dog and 1 Ceramic 1225 (If that is the greenback clone). Any other suggestions. I may consider one of the speakers being alnico but can't afford for both at least now and can't afford celestion blues either. What are the alternatives? Are Eminence similar prices? How is the red fang vs the celestion vs weber blue dog alnico vs weber blue dog ceramic? Any help is appreciated.

Re: Voxy Speakers?!

Well, let's look at this...

A Weber Silver bell (ceramic or alnico) is NOT the classic Vox tone...those speakers are based on the alnico Celestions that came in the oldest marshalls and they sounds VERY different to my ears.

The 1225 IS the Greenback speaker however mixing one greenback and another Celestion style speaker can be tricky...Greenbacks are only around 97db and Blues, H30, etc are 100db so often times the Greenbackl gets drownd out...

The Eminence are nice speakers but IMO the Eminence red Fang and the Weber Bue only get close...to my ears the Weber is closer to a true Blue than the Eminence but thats just my opinion...

If I were doing this deal Id get one Weber Alnico Blue Dog (or a nice used Celestion Blue) and one Weber 1230 (or a used G12H30)...thats just me...

Ok thanks. I only thought the silver bell because that seems to be teamed up with the blue dog. So do you reckon that it would be better with two greenbacks then mixing a greenback with a different speaker?
