Wah Suggestions

I started pulling the pedals that were sucking tone off of my pedal board. In the process, I lost my wah pedal. Lol. Even on the “true bypass” setting, the Dunlop Bonamassa wah added a fizziness to my tone. So... any suggestions for a wah that doesn’t suck tone when bypassed?

Re: Wah Suggestions

If you've got the clams, the Fulltone WahFull + expression pedal.

Does 3 different wah styles, can do cocked wah or regular wah.

Has 2.2MOhm input impedance & 10KOhm output impedance (which equals zero tone suck when off... or on)

Re: Wah Suggestions

There is a switch in the JB Crybaby that'll change it from true-bypass to non-true-bypass. Have you played with that switch yet? My guess is you have it set to the non-true-bypass setting. Open the back and look for a little slider switch above one of the jacks by the inductor. Flip it the other way and try it.

I have tried it both ways. Even in true bypass mode, it make the high end fizzy.

That's weird. Well, if you have room, and you really like it otherwise, get a bypass looper pedal and put it in the loop. A single loop is all you need.

If you'd rather get a new Crybaby, check out the Jerry Cantrell model.

THAT is a cool pedal....

Re: Wah Suggestions

There’s something strange with the Bonamassa wah. Lots of people bought it and the fuzz together and found they don’t work nicely together (having to put the wah after fuzz which isn’t my preference or never use them together).

I’ve had my Teese RMC-3 for a decade and it’s been great. Between the RMC-1/2/3 if you are a tweaker, the RMC-4 or RMC-10 for classic wah tones or the RMC-5 for more modern tones, it’s a great lineup.

If you want something basic, try the Crybaby Classic, it’s true bypass and has the fasel inductor.

Re: Wah Suggestions

I'm always confused when you guys talk about tone suck from a Crybaby. Probably because I've almost always had one in line since I started playing, and definitely since I quit using copious amounts of gain and stupid hot pickups. Kinda like 60 cycle hum, it's just part of it.

Re: Wah Suggestions

Dunlop 535Q, current production, gloss chrome. One battery, true bypass, and red Fasel inductor. Thank me later.

have this, and yes it works well. I hate the damn clicker and prefer the Morley instant on step wahs when I play out. for recording I prefer the 535q

You'll thank me the day after tomorrow, but not a week after yesterday...
