Yes, you can get them, but those models you specifically layed out are reissues, and only one model from that series.
For example, in the JCM800 line, you can only buy a NEW 2203. Want a 2204 or 2210 or 2205? Gotta go used. Same with the JCM900, only the 4100 is offered NEW, and WITH 5881's. Why? I have no clue. They should've reissued it with EL34's IMO (which it had in the first 4-5 years of it's offering), or at least have reissued the MkIII or SL-X instead. The only way to get those is in the used market. The Bluesbreaker was only one model originally, if my memory serves me right.

5881's are electically equivalent to 6L6's so if the amp is not designed to use them from the get go, then no, they are not interchangeable with EL34's without some component (resistor) changes and a rebias. The Laney's just need the rebias like you said.Davey said:arent 5881's interchangeable?
i know, not a marshall, but the GH50L (and i assume the 100 also) laney can run el34's or 5881's respectively, all it takes is a bias change.
I'd love an 800 but prices are getting out of my reach. It's been a while since I've sat down with a 2000 DSL. I might have to do that again soon. Been hearing some good things about the DSL50/100 lately.WhoFan said:i'd love a 900 head in the future... now that i have an early 800 i'd like to get an early 900 too.... then a 2000 oneday too.....
Split the signal with either a stereo chorus, reverb, or delay pedal. That would sound cool.TimmyPage said:Nah.. Im happy with the Traynor Blue now *twitch.. minor GAS attack*.
Though, sometime when I have a job, I was thinking.. Getting a splitter, and playing into both the Traynor and a DSL401... I personally think it would sound cool.
There is an actual bias switch at the back to switch between the 2. I dunno if further biasing would be required, im no expert! Im thinking when i need to change the tubes ill go with EL34s:banana:Davey said:arent 5881's interchangeable?

Gee, I wonder where I could find one of those. :27: :fingersx: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:Scott_F said:There are a lot of great small builders that will build you exactly what you want. Better parts and lower prices if you look around.
