So my guitarist and I ordered a neck to be made custom for a guitar with a floyd rose. We picked the superwide neck with the 10-16in compound radius ebony board and roasted maple neck. It has a super warhead headstock and 24 frets, stainless steel.
They contacted me via email and told me that due to a "glitch in our system", I ordered something impossible: a superwide neck with a floyd rose nut.
They gave me 2 options. Here is the entire email.
"Alex,
Due to a glitch in the ordering system, you were allowed to order a Floyd nut
prep on a Superwide neck. To our knowledge, there are no known 1-7/8” Floyd
compatible nuts available so, as such, we’ve never worked our tooling over to
include the Superwide necks to allow for a Floyd nut prep.
We sincerely regret that this happened and we will do all we can to help.
Needless to say, we have not performed any Floyd nut prep on the neck.
Our options at this point are::
1. Remove/refund that option from the order and complete it as is.
(for you or your tech to perform)
2. Remove/refund that option in lieu of one of our available nut install options.
(Corian, Tusq..)
Please advise as to how you would like to proceed."
So after looking it up, the 1-7/8ths nut seems to be for 7 string guitars. This is not supposed to be a 7 string neck. He tells me no floyd rose nut will fit the warmoth superwide. That is kind of a huge deal for me, as a floyd was an important part of this guitar. I'm not trying to be mean but neither of the proposed options sound acceptable to me. If it is impossible to rout the nut for a locking floyd rose nut, then I want my money back so I can order a neck that can, yet that is not an option he gave me. Am I missing something? Is there any alternative that someone can suggest?
