Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

I love the colour, always wanted guitar with a flat olive finish. And that is the only guitar that looks good with gold hardwere I´v seen.. Still would have choosen something else, but it looks good!

What knobs are you putting on? I wote sg stlye..

Wenge speed style knobs. It will be a nice match with the olive green I think

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

That guitar looks mena, dude.

What tremolo is that? I thought at first it was a Wilkinson but in the picture of the rear cavity it doesn't look like their trem block.

25-1/2" bolt neck on a single cutaway ..... is it an archtop? ..... should be a great sound.

It actually is a Wilkinson trem ordered from Warmoth.

It's actually a 24 3/4" scale conversion neck too, so it's like a Strat-o-Paul... especially with the ANGLED (13 degrees tilt, just like a gibson) strat headstock.

It is a carved top. I'll be playing her with both humbuckers in a matter of hours and I can't wait!

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

I just hope your humbuckers have gold covers, or else that guitar is gonna be three shades too dark, IMO. It's a nice color, but I still feel like it needs highlights.

Yes, both humbuckers have gold covers with black mounting rings.

Thank you to everyone else for checkin it out and for all criticisms and compliments!

I love that, thank you for welcoming me to the bolt-on LP club with such revealing photos of your lady friend there!!

I can't quite tell, the back looks like white korina but the top looks more like mahogany, which is it?

The neck...? Rosewood fretboard?

Gorgeous no doubt

You're Welcome!

AFAIK it's all Limba. I bought it used for $500 as you see it with a HSC.

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

Nice!! haha!

I can't believe you got an all limba for only $500?!? I spent just under that on my neck...

lucky bastard

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

this is funky.... but oddly i don't mind the colour that much.. army green.... in my youth i would of loved that as i used to wear army clothing from surplus shops!

the part i do find odd is the strat headstock on an LP... that is just weird....

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

I got it off Evilbay December '06. Even drove the 200+ miles to get it in Jacksonville. I call it Sarge cause I bought it from a Law Enforcement Officer. :9: Your's kinda says Corporal Warmoth to me, all it's missing is 2 Satin Black Stripes where a Pete Townshend number would be. :drill:

Funny you should say that. I having a Hamer Daytona neck married to an old late '70's Mighty Mite Explorer Body by Ben Chafin of Chafin Custom Guitars. One of his side projects. Translated I'll get her done one of these days. Which I'm cool with cause it WILL be BAD!!! :31: :scratchch :approve:

That looks great. I like how the finish goes with the rosewood neck, and I'm a big fan of HSH pickup configurations.

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

You will love that wenge neck!!! I have one with an ebony board and Phat Cats installed in a walnut body. It howls, growls, screams and shrieks!

Thank you kindly!

I also love HSH configs, I had one on my last Strat and loved it!

Is Ziricote in the rosewood family?

Wenge is like the guitar player's wood even though it's more commonly associated with bass necks and bodies. It's got a ton of articulation for a nice, warm wood that can really, REALLY fatten up the lows on a tube amp. I do love wenge, I just try to not let too many people know about it...

Besides, luthiers hate working with wenge because of it's ability to give slivers easily... So it's unlikely there will ever be too many wenge players out there.

I have had this neck installed on a guitar already though and I do love it. I bet your Ebony fretboard really makes the wenge sing too!

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

That's genuinely very very cool. the colour doesnt really suit gold though in my opnion.

Ummm, uh, WELL??? :scratchch

Re: Warmoth LP bolt-on?? Haha, I thought it might be sweet...

Ok, here's the deal...

IT SOUNDS INCREDIBLE!! Wow, just wow. It's so warm yet does not shy away from articulation even (GET THIS>>>) with my Big Muff Pi!! I've never made a big muff sing so clear!! Note for note and it's like Santana is playing through my Traynor...

I was thinking did I get better or something?

On top of that where this guitar really shines is on clean tones. I love the warmth of the 59 in the neck; especially the clean 59 sound! However, in this hollow korina it's almost like taking swamp ash and mahogany to create a perfectly balanced tone. It just sings and never gets muddy. That doesn't mean there isn't a monsterous low end though... there is, it can be FELT through your chest on my Traynor YCV40 1X12 at a volume level of 1. 1, ONE, 1. That's incredible. However when I crank it up it never gets too boomy!!

Anyway, I've only got about 12 hours playing time on it so far and I've got a bit of work left to do on it, or so it seems.

I've been a tad frustrated with the common and usual job of a custom parts guitar set-up. First of all the standard thickness of the bridge HB mounting ring just will not cut it with a two point trem, I pretty much have to sand it down to the thickness of the neck ring just to avoid too much magnetic pull on the strings from the bridge humbucker. In it's stock form the bridge ring would force me to jack the bridge up like a ghetto '64 on bags just to get a 1/32" clearance!! That's taken me about two hours of work and I still don't have the 1/8" bass side to 3/32" treble side clearance I want on a JACKED UP two point bridge. Granted I've never owned a two point trem before and I've especially never tried to balance a trem on a carved top guitar but I know plenty about setting up a standard Les Paul and a vintage 6 hole trem Strat where I think I will be able to figure it out. (EDIT: I'm pretty sure I already got it, it's playing pretty nice right now!!)

I have a compound radius neck (10 - 16") so I set the strings to a 16" radius; it's comfortable to the picking hand but something isn't matching up all the time with the fretting hand towards the nut. Sure, the strings do feel a tad high at the nut, but I don't have files for that so I'm leaving that up to my friend who does have them (when he has some time).

Right now my relief is fine (.008) but the fret rocker rocks like a cradle up and down the neck, it's sad (so who knows if my relief at the 7th fret is actually even .008!!). I need a dress and level so bad it actually depresses me! That doesn't make matters any better... That will need to be done, but I'm flat broke for a while after buying this baby. The buzzing is minimal but extremely noticable at the 15th and 17th frets (which is due to low frets, it's expected on a non-leveled fretjob).

Blah, blah blah. The bottom line is the tone is angelic. I couldn't have picked a better combo for my personal taste, that's fo sho. It even stays decently in tune, which I've never had with a trem-equipped guitar!!

For now the intonation is right and the tone is beautiful so I will just suck it up and play it like this til I can afford the final set-up of the frets and string height at the nut. I can't wait for that though!!

I really like it. It's classy! I can't think of a better adjective at the moment, but it certainly appeals to me :) Plus, any guitar you put together yourself is going to feel special. You sound like you're happy (despite the frustration) :D
