Why?

It allows the wood to breathe better, age faster (thus warming the tone more) and give you overall better tone from the beginning.

For that matter, why dont you not even bother with finishing it at all. Light coat of oil and call it done????

mainly because everyone oils limba!! I wanted a certain vibe... you know.

I know what you're sayin though odie!! I know exactly why why it is a shame i didn't use grain filler... but... there are plenty of those kind of limba bodies for us to look at already.

There might not be another one like this... at least not yet.

A green Les Paul with a tremolo a strat neck and a single coil in the middle if somebody told me this I would have hit them on the head with both a Les Paul and a Strat for creating such a fugly monster, HOWEVER after looking at the pics... I like it very much, I have no idea why but I find it beautiful.

Congratulations looks sweet and like a real player.

thanks bro, and it really is a playa all the way. she likes it though.

it's that African connection with a touch of Mexico on the fretboard for a touch of spice. if people don't know by now Africa; the birth of groove and earth of tone, produces some very musical woods.

Wow? I guess I haven't really thought about the cost. It's cost me more than just money. It's more like what did I have to sell to acquire this and don't even get me started on the two months I spent without an axe to make this possible (I still had basses). That being said; a little research, some patience and about $1400 later... here we are.

The following is not in reply, just advice in general to whomever cares to read it:

Of course if you went through a luthier to buy a guitar at this stage you'd pay about $2000-$2500 including labor, assembly, set-up, dressing, etc. So it helps to learn how to be a DIY to a certain extent. To anyone looking into ever doing a parts guitar please tell me you've at least read a book like Dan Erlewine's (what I call the Bible) Guitar Player Repair Guide before you even wanna talk wood, pickup and electronics possibilities.

The biggest mistake people make is jumpin in without educating themselves on what they are getting into. these things are obsessions, not hobbies. I'm not just a weekend player, I'm a daily...many, many hours a day player so the amount of time I spend on my own personal tweaking of a tremolo system alone takes me weeks, sometimes months before I'm happy. I didn't have time to worry about making it look like it was gonna be on a magazine cover or something. Like all my previous guitars it would have stayed new for about a week or two before marks, scratches, and other signs of use set in.

Some people would say I'm fussy... I don't know why though.

It should be noted I brought this guitar over to my buddy's house tonight for him to see it for the first time and he thought in the pictures it looks like it has an orange peel effect so he thought I had ruined it from the pics until he saw it in person. He's an up and coming luthier and he said in person he was very impressed with the finish and is shocked at how good I actually did on it.

So it should be noted there is NO orange peel anywhere, it was the flash on the satin finish!!

Thanks, I really have a tough time putting it down. I just played it for about 2 1/2 hours and put it down to get some grub. I'm about to play it again here, but really the tone is incredible. this instrument is so well balanced i can't help but want to play it.

btw I have the wenge knobs on the guitar now, it's a nice classy and vintage look. I'll take pics sometime

I've always wondered what an LP would look like with a strat headstock. It's pretty cool. I eventually want to build a warmoth LP for something different, Mahogany body painted white, maple neck and fretboard with black block inlays...it would be best of both worlds between a fender and a gibson sound and look (in my opinion).

the cherryburst: padouk neck, macassar ebony board, JB/jazz set, quilt maple on chambered mahogany

the purple quilt:
AAAAquilt on singlepiece chambered mahogany, hipshot tremolo, brazilian rosewood neck and BRW fingerboard, motherbucker in neck and bridge, prails in the middle (nowadays)

purple flame:
AAAAAflamed maple on flamed black korina, rio rosewood neck and fingerboard, celtic cross inlay, BKP miracle man pickups, hipshot tremolo

'the other':
flamed koa top, solid walnut back, ziricote neck, macassar ebony board, custom inlay, old gibson pafs (1969!) and a telecaster bridge singlecoil in the middle, just for the looks...


I sold almost all of my gibsons for warmoth Lp's, and I can say: they rock! the topicstarter made an excellent choice when he got his own warmoth!

How did you get the women inlays done, was it done by Warmoth? I love that! I didn't see that option...

Your wood selections are all top notch, you have a nice collection no doubt. I'd rather be you than the guy with 100 Gibsons...
