Warmoth Questions

How much did it cost?

Also, anyone know if warmoth necks fit MIM strats?

My Warmoth neck fits ok in my MIM Strat, but the Fender neck does NOT fit in the Warmoth neck pocket (neck is too big). I'm guessing that Warmoth makes their necks a bit small so that they will fit most anything. Their necks fit in their bodies like a glove.

It's been a long time since I bought my Warmoth stuff, so I'm not sure about the price. It may have been about $165 for quartersawn maple/rosewood fingerboard in "Warmoth" double-expanding truss rod construction off the "Showcase" (formerly, the "Thrift Shop").

Chip

P.S. The idea of cutting a nut without the benefit of having the guitar attached to the neck seems like asking for trouble. If the bridge is out of line just a touch or the neck doesn't fit perfectly straight in the pocket, you may need to compensate up at the nut to make sure the strings stay on the fingerboard and far enough away from the edges. Just my 2 cents...

OK, I'll bite....

Vintage Tint Satin - Yes we can do it. It's a one way trip (non-returnable) and kinda looks like a cheeto (sp?). $80 on Maple.

Return Policy - Yep, there is a limit how long you can go. Every company has a limit.

Precut Nuts - After a year of sending hundreds and hundreds of necks out with them, I have had about 6 people call back with problems, 70 call back with praises, and from the rest, I've heard nothing. I think that's pretty good odds. Each neck is measured after the frets are in and the CNC machine cuts each nut custom for that neck. Nut width, slot depth and fret height give us the magic numbers for slot locations. The slots are cut at a downward angle and at about 30% through the nut, the slot starts angling directly at the tuning peg. It's an incredible cut really. Yes, I suppose there will be the occational bugger, but we deal with it well unless you wait for a bunch of months before you notify us.

Fret Pressing - The fret slots are not oversized, and yes they are pressed and glued in. If we didn't use glue, they would still stay in. We use glue to safeguard against climate changes since we ship all over the world.

MIM Fender Specs - About 50% of the time neck pocket specs and neck heels of Mexico and Korean made Fenders will be oversized. I'm sure they're aiming at being standard, just not getting it a lot of the time. We've been doing the same neck heel and pocket spec that we've always done.

Thanks guys!
