Re: Warning: Blue guitar thread!
I too prefer the HH version of the Albert Lee. I have two of 'em, one in ruby metallic and another in silver sparkle with nice big flakes. Love 'em both, even though my fingers are long & I usually prefer bigger necks. But I enjoy playing smaller ones too sometimes, like these and a skinny old Tokai strat. Makes me feel like my hands are big as Jimi's!
Would love to try an Aristides one day but they're still pretty rare these days, at least around here. Have heard nothing but good things about them.
I LOVE the ALs... just incredible guitars all-around. My first got stolen so, now, I have three... because reasons.
I am coming along to liking the sparkly one better: it's a little lighter and sounds at least equally good; a little brighter, with less power to the mids. Which also justifies keeping both of the HH ones! The SSS won't stay though, it's a little too bright for me: I like my Strats thick and juicy (it plays incredibly well and sounds gorgeous unplugged).
Those Aristides sound really loud unplugged and even better through an amp: they designed their own pickups with Bareknuckle and they complement the guitar's natural voice perfectly. Superlatively well-built and thought-out guitars.
They're not too heavy either (this is hard for me to judge: all my guitars are very light, to the point that my heaviest guitar is my headless!). Overall, a great, great design with a lot of advantages: no impact of humidity or weather, frets won't wear out (they're stainless-steel), and Arium was designed in the first place to be resonant and pleasant to the ear in its tone.
