Weak Sounding Humbucker to Strat

I have fitted a Pearly Gates Plus to my 2003 standard American Strat , the resulting sound is quite weak and not as powerful as I thought.
I essentially soldered the red & white together and wired this as per SD's schematic. The black and green were wired as per SD's schematic aswell.
I haven't touched any tone controls or capacitor's from the original Strat wiring. Could the pickup be out of phase.
Pickup sounds just as strong in position 1 as in position 2, even though it is tapped in position 2?

Help please....!

welcome to the forum!!

sounds like the pup is split the whole time. there is probably a bad connection some where so check to make sure the red/white connection isnt touching anything its not supposed to and make sure that the hot and ground wires has a good solder joint

Re: Weak Sounding Humbucker to Strat

Get a ohmmeter and measure a the tip and the sleeve of the cable while the humbucker is on. I should be round 8.5k If it is half or less see above post.

Re: Weak Sounding Humbucker to Strat

Are you getting hum or noise when the PG+ is selected by itself?

Re: Weak Sounding Humbucker to Strat

Thanks Guys, I'll give it a go.

I have since swapped the hot wires over. ie. green to hot and black to earth, just in case there was a phase problem. The PG+ sounded great in pos.1 but 2 & 4 were clearly out of phase - very weak nasal sound..!
I'll swap them back and see if it was just a poor solder initially..!

Thanks again, hopefully this questioned hasn't been asked too many times in the past..!

Cheers from Scotland...!
