Weber Speakers vs. Original Counterparts

I'm planning on buying an empty 2x12 cab and filling it with a Celestion Blue and a Jensen C12K or C12Q. The Blue is 15W whereas the C12K is 100W and the C12Q is 35W. They are also more expensive.

I've been looking at the Weber counterparts (Alnico Blue Dog and Ceramic 12F100T) which are both the same wattage and together are about $100 cheaper.

Are these Weber speakers as good as the Celestion and Jensen they replace, or am I better off going with the originals?

Thanks.

I use Alnico Blue Dog and Alnico Silver Bell in one of my amps and That combination has the best tone for speakers that I have ever had the pleasure of using...

That combination is in my Little Jimi (Holland) amp which was used in the first SD Forum jam in Clear Lake, Texas back in 2002 or 2003 (I forget which year)

Re: Weber Speakers vs. Original Counterparts

A Weber vs a "reissue" Jensen will, IMHO go to the Weber by a mile however the Celestion thing is a bit more tricky...most of the Weber Celestion clones are as good if not better than new Celestions but the Blue is even a bit more tricky...I've not yet tried a Alnico Blue clone be it the Eminence, Weber, WGS whatever that really nailed the tone of a new Celestion Alnico Blue and IMHO the new Blues pale in comparison to an original from the 60's.

All that said the Weber Alnico Blue clone is the closest of all the clones by a logn shot.
