Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

thats a really sweet looking body. i think a rev fb headstock would be awesome on that!

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

This is going to be really cool bro. You have a neck for it yet?

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

To be honest John, I have never actually seen the back of your neck. For all I know you may not have one under all that hair. And sounds can be deceiving. I do not think there is very much red neck about you really except for your accent.

Have you considered getting a burst of some sort? Although having seen the real wood, I have to say, a case can be made natural.

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

This is the flame maple veneer that I bought to put on the headstock. I think it'll match up pretty well with the body.

Gonna veneer the headstock on your own even? Damn!! Serious commitment! I applaud!!! I figured youd either go plain or buy one pre done

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

Are you going to run binding on the headstock?

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

NICE! Glad you are doin' the veneer on the headstock! That's gonna rock!

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

You've probably thought about this, but just in case ....

Buy your tuners of choice to know exactly how thick a headstock they can be fitted to. In some instances, veneering a headstock may neccessitate thinning the headstock first. Depends on the thickness of the veneer and how much extra the tuners can accomodate.

Very nice!!

I'm with Jeremy on the neck...reverse Firebird would be absolutely awesome.

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

that veneer looks pretty thin so i dont think it should be an issue. ive done that same style veneer a few times and never had an issue

Actually, I hadn't thought about that. Thanks!!

I don't think it will be a problem. It's 1/42" thick.

I was just farting around a few minutes ago and took these.

My dyes should be here tommorrow, and I'll get to staining this weekend......hopefully.

You can put some mineral spirits on it , I think, to pop the grain for pictures- no harm, no foul.
