What a damn waste of time

The Drama Dude
I designed a PRS/BC Rich Eagle sorta build. Don't know when I'm going to have the time or resources/tools to build it, but I'd like to build it, one day.

It's gonna have to be a "from-scratch" build.

Specs:
Korina back and neck (might try doing a bolt-in, but I gotta plan that out so that the heel isn't too obnoxious - I just dig the sound of bolt necks)
Flame maple top
Bubinga fretboard
Ebony headstock overlay
Flame maple inlay of a Kestrel in flight @ 12th fret
STP/TOM shown here, but might go TOM/String-thru-body
22 medium-jumbo frets. Graphtech Tusq nut.
Vol/Tone/3-way toggle
Not sure what kinda tuners yet. Probably Grovers or Gotoh.
Pickups: Not entirely sure yet.
here's what I'm thinking:
Option 1) Screamin' Demon/Hot Stack
Option 2) Perpetual Burn/Cool Rails
Option 3) Brobucker/Little Screamin' Demon
Option 4) DMZ Norton/Cruiser

Anyway, I made a bunch of mockups playing with the colour scheme. (This is where the waste of time comes in...)

Which one do you dig? And what pickups do you think I should go with?

Re: What a damn waste of time

The green and amber get my vote but that bird reminds me of the American Eagle clothing logo.

Re: What a damn waste of time

all the colors look nice, blue is most soothing to my peepers. i would not have associated american eagle unless prompted.

Re: What a damn waste of time

Ugh, why the single sized bucker for the neck position? I love the honey colored one. But a HH one of those in that last color would be delicious, just IMO though.

Re: What a damn waste of time

Purple or green with option 2 bridge and option 3 neck. Cool design and pu configuration :fing2:

Re: What a damn waste of time

I think I'm leaning towards either the blue burst or the amber/tea/dark honey burst myself.

As for the lack of a neck bucker:

I don't like full size humbuckers in the neck position. the sensing window is too large to get tones that I really love.
Much prefer the narrow sensing window of single-coil sized humbuckers. Yields a much sweeter, brighter sound with a lot more clarity/articulation.

Re: What a damn waste of time

I like the looks of that. I'm kinda diggin the GREEN, but I like all the colors.

Re: What a damn waste of time

+1 on the Tea/Amber with the Screamin' Demon/Hot Stack. I would probably want a Kahler on that beast also.

Re: What a damn waste of time

I've never played or heard any demos of the hot stack... what's it like?

Re: What a damn waste of time

The first two, I never decide on pickups before hearing the actual guitar. At best I use sth I neutral that I am very familiar with as a starting point and go from there.

Re: What a damn waste of time

I like the red one and the honey one. I'd go with a Hot Rails at the neck and amber speed knobs.

I have a hot rails in the neck of one of my guitars already. It's great, and I love it dearly, but I wanted something different for this axe.

Maybe try switching the mag on a Hot Rails. Instead of ceramic try a UR2 Cobalt unoriented mag. From what I've read and heard the combination of the uranium and cobalt is positively nuclear.
