What are/have folks used with the PATB-3 ?

I 'm finally getting around to putting together either a H-S or a H-H Strat mutt (alder, maple/maple, OFR) for a PATB-3 I bought awhile back, and was wondering what folks pick ups folks recommend.
So what I'm asking is what worked for you.

The PATB-1N (original parallel axis neck). This pickup works great and sounds like straight butter!

If going with a H/S, I would go with the Parallel axis stack. Though, I have yet to play one.

+1/2. I'd definitely go with the PATB1-Neck. Not so much the PA-STK since I've disliked it in every guitar I played it in (which is a few). Although, that was in combination with a PATB1 in the bridge. It would probably work better, output-wise with the PATB3. But really, the PATB1-Neck would be perfect!

OK, I was under the assumption that nobody on here has ever played one. LOL!
I still want to try to find one on Ebay for cheap to try out. BTW, the PATB-1N is KILLER with the PATB-3!

Thanks bro.

I used it with a Jazz neck and they worked together great. Then I got the Patb neck more for looks than anything and liked it even more. I've also used it with SSL1's and the output really matched well. Didint seem to quack much though, which seemed odd.

Interesting.

Could you elaborate more on this?

Best,

I think I am gonna be pairing it with a Jazz-N or 59N (while keeping an a4 magnet handy to be used in case...).

I meant with the middle and bridge together. I commonly use ssl-1's or similiar with humbuckers in the bridge and though its not like 2 singles you usually get a little quack. With the patb3, it sounded good with the middle but no real quack. I assume thats just a trait of the design.

Re: What are/have folks used with the PATB-3 ?

Thanks everyone for input, but it looks like this project will be put on hold (again) for awhile. So I'll save the PATB-3 as a back up for a guitar that's coming back from being painted.
I was surfing the web this morning and ended up placing a order on a limited run Dean, "Cadzilla".

I had a PATB3 in my Carvin SC90. It had a bright overtone to it stock, inspite of having it made of Mahogany back and neck. (quilt top.) The PATB3 took away the brightness and made it sound huge and fat like a Les Paul copy. Was AWESOME!!! I had a pearly gates in the neck and that made it spanky.. Great tones!

Re: What are/have folks used with the PATB-3 ?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Dean uses standard spacing on their fixed bridges. I had a '79 series Z, and a trem spaced pup was too wide causing the high E to sound thin. But maybe the PATB will fit.
