What are your experiences with boss tu2 stompbox stage tuner?

I have it last, as any noise generated by the pedals is muted by the tuner.

The issue of course if you use enough pedals to generate any discernable amount of noise then that would make sense.

The other side of it is if you're like me and typically use one pedal and leave it on all night then my general dip****tedness would have me trying to tune with a Tube Screamer on and running....no good.

Re: What are your experiences with boss tu2 stompbox stage tuner?

I have my TU2 either 1st or 2nd in the chain, dependant on if I'm using my Wah pedal or not :)

Re: What are your experiences with boss tu2 stompbox stage tuner?

So you can have it after some effects, as long as there's nothing else before it that's on when you're tuning right? My wah does'nt really like it before it I think. :) If not I was thinking of some kind of true bypss A/B switch to use for tuner out?

Re: What are your experiences with boss tu2 stompbox stage tuner?

You want no effects on before the tuner. I only have 2 before the tuner, so its easy for me.

You're going to share one TU-2 between the two of you? If so, you'll probably end up wanting your own to keep in your pedal chain.

I haven't noticed any major "tone suckage" at all, and the mute option is great.

Haha nah i won a single one off ebay and it was from an ebay store so i asked if he had more in stock, and he has another one which they will ship me for the same price as the winning bid....so i got a good deal :D

Could you explain that some more? Do you run it on bypass?

I think he means that he can step on the tuner in between songs to mute any noise generated by the other pedals he is running (if he leaves those switched on between songs).

If the tuner was at the head of the chain the guitar would be muted but noise from other pedals would still go to the amp. The other side (as Skarekrough points out) is that you don't want to be tuning with a load of pedal noise in your signal, so if the tuner is last in the chain you need to turn off any other pedals to tune. Not an issue if you only use one or two effects at a time.

I have mine running with my preamp and compressor pedals running into the TU-2, and then the rest of my pedal chain. When I stomp on the tuner, it is quiet--like I hit the STANDBY on my amp. I use this mute function when I am changing guitars, it's very handy.

I've never experienced the oft-ballyhooed "tone suck" of the TU-2. Maybe I got lucky? or maybe I'm just tone deaf?

Neither have I, and almost every pro musician I know uses one. It's brilliant for changing axes without that cronky noise of plugging into a live amp.

ahhh :smack: of course!
It doesn't matter for me because I'm blessed with a standby switch on my amp's footswitch :D

TU-2 is fine, most racktuners are better, and Pertersons blow them all away.

Re: What are your experiences with boss tu2 stompbox stage tuner?

The Peterson really is an amazing tuner...my guitars are so much more in tune on stage now that it is on my board. The guitar temperment feature is really cool too. I always had to tweak a bit by ear after using other tuners, but I feel more confident that I'm going to be in tune with the Peterson(granted, I've gotten very anal about tuning over the years). It also works great for intonating my guitars, so I only need one tuner. The DI is a great feature too if you do any acoustic stuff live. I just take my guitar and my peterson and I'm good to go.

I have the Boss and have never had a problem. I've used it plenty and it works fine. I also had the Strobosomp and returned it. While it was a nice pedal it was too much $ for what it was for me. I have an old Conn ST-11 I use at home for setup so the Strobo went back. I figured I would check it out anyway. But the Boss has never let me down. It's not as acurate as a strobe but hey, it's only rock and roll!
