What are your favorite neck profiles?

For me, it would have to be:
  • Gibson 60's Slim Taper - Just all-around comfy. Very middle-of-the-road thickness. Not too thick, not too thin. Very much a safe bet for me. It's not a shredder's neck, but it's not a baseball bat either. I like that it almost always comes with a 12" fretboard radius in front too. Kind of a crowd pleaser, but since I like Gibson guitars overall, I feel this is their best.
  • ESP Thin U - Very much home for me. I've had tons of LTD's, and they're always some of the comfiest guitars that fit my hand like a glove. Kinda like a Gibson 60's, just a bit narrower and perhaps a tiny bit thinner. Still not blade thin, but a very comfy and fast-feeling neck. Like the fretboard radius as well, and I love that they normally come with bigger frets.
  • Ibanez Wizard Prestige - It's not the thinnest Ibanez neck I've played, but it's just comfy for me. Unarguably thin, and really really lightning fast for me. I like the flat fretboard radius as well as the big frets. Maybe because my first ever "nice" guitar was an Ibanez Prestige, but it's the kind of neck profile that I normally associate with a "nice" guitar.
Another standout for me would be the neck profile on my old PRS SE Paul Allender, but I'm not evern sure what that neck profile was. It certainly felt thinner than the usual PRS Wide Thin profile, and it had a 14" radius as opposed to the usual PRS 10". It was thin alright, but it wasn't D-shaped. I remember it being distinctly rounder and slightly thinner compared to the LTD's I was playing at the time. It was just all around great.

I mean, I've gotten along with other necks in the past. I'm sure I can get used to most if not all neck profiles. My Gibson comes with the Rounded 50's, and while I certainly wouldn't order a custom guitar made to my specs with one, I can get along on it just fine. But I certainly prefer thinner necks overall.

How about you?

I can play with anything, but the neck on my Jackson is probably the best, most comfortable I've played. Gibson's slim/60's would be my next and the one I play most often.

The current Kiesel Carvin thin profile 25 scale neck through, 1990s Washburn USA MG II while Grover Jackson was running that shop.
Nothing else come close to both.

Slim 60s c on my Epiphone Florentine
wizard ll on my Ibanez
Standard slim C on my custom builds
which are copies of the two above

I tend to like smaller, thinner necks, as my hands aren't very big. I never bothered to find out what they were actually called.

My favorite is the Wizard profile on the Ibanez RG series guitars. Of the ones I have its probably the neck on my Iceman, little more rounded and thicker than a Wizard, no idea what the shape is actually called.

Can't handle toothpick necks (narrow). As I get older, wider works better for me. Latest love - the Warmoth Super Wide - 1 7/8", regular thin.

1 - Ernie Ball Music Man Luke 3
Really comfy soft V with a narrow nut width. Just fits in the hand amazingly well...I never thought I'd like profiles with any sort of V but I was surprised.
I have liked all of the ebmm necks I have played (silhouette & axis also). The finish also helps.

2 -The neck on my Hamer Mirage 2 is also narrow, but wider than the EBMMs, but I'd guess it's a comfortable C shape as it's not overly thin. Really comfortable.

3 - Hamer Monaco Elite
Similar to the Mirage but maybe narrower still at the nut.

Runner up would be a slightly slimmer C that you might find on many strat style guitars.

I also liked the thin profiles on the few USA Jacksons I have tried.

I must get my hands on a Charvel some day as I'd like to see what all the fuss is about their necks.

I don't like really thick, chunky necks but I can deal with them if I have to. Joint booby prize however goes to classical guitar necks and Ibanez Wizard wide and thin style from the RGs.

I've got guitars with D, C, and U necks, all of them varying degrees of thin, though my Cutlass probably has the "chunkiest" neck. They're all nice and playable (or I wouldn't own them!). The most playable is probably the Charvel Dinky I recently bought. First time owning a guitar with a compound radius and I'm a fan. Fits my hand nicely no matter where I am on the neck.

I think ultimately I'm more about heel joint than neck profile. My set-neck Epiphone's heel is a bit on the chunky side, which makes harder to get to those upper frets. The set-through neck on my LTD provides better upper-fret access. The bolt-on necks on my other guitars are great, particularly the Dinky.

I like most all necks, really love Jacksons, Explorers, and the Dean V necks the most.
Only necks I don't like are the LP baseball bat necks. I'll play them but they're not my favorite.

I once played a Stratocaster with a V neck that is my favorite. Unfortunately I don't recall what kind of Strat it was.

As far as I can tell today I am happy with just a perfect section of a circle.
