What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

Re: What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

The BF-2B Flanger is great for guitar too. It's just the BF-2 with a couple cap changes for bass. I had one but sold it because I didn't use it. I've gotten away from using many effects and stick with reverb or delay and a phaser.

Do you know what the the resulting difference is? Does it effect the range of the flanging effect, or the overall response of the pedal?

Here's why I ask - I mainly use my flanger for that clanging, Andy Summers Regatta de Blanc era sound (as opposed to the normal peaky up and down swoosh sound). For that Summers clang, I found that having tihe Manual control all the way down is best. This makes the center frequency of the sweep as low as possible (by moving the delay time out as long as possible.)

I'm wondering if the BF-2B's delay time range is longer than the BF-2's. Might make it "my" kind of flanger, at least for those days I'm not torturing my new Behringer Dimension Space C (I love that name).

Edit: Doh! I answered my own question at the BOSSAREA.COM. The BF-2B's delay time range is exactly HALF of the BF-2's, so its frequency range should be an octave higher - not what I want at all. According to BOSSAREA, the idea was to leave the bass fundamentals alone, and flange the harmonics. Learn sumpin' new every day.

The BF-2B sounds warmer and doesn't have that upper metallic sound that the BF-2 or even the BF-3 has. It worked great for that "Unchained" flange effect. I think the frequency range is actually an octave lower being that it was made for the bass guitar. If I still had mine, I'd let you borrow it to see for yourself. I really liked it.

Re: What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

Got a MIJ BF-2...well I do not hope that Jr has misplaced it for good though;)
Anyways seems that I ran into a lucky strike with the LM-2, after the first deal went down, got another on my hands now....
Lol my collection of small boxes seems to be growing again...
:D
Also had my old SD-2 back....

Re: What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

i've owned loads, i used to trade or ebay them second hand and chuck them back on when i got bored :D

HM-2 - bleh. never could settle with it!
MZ-2 - kind of cool, but it was a novelty pedal. wouldn't play live with it.
DD-3 - classic pedal, i'd pick up another but i needed £60 and they dont change price!
DS-1 - spina modded :) don't use this much these days though.. cool pedal!
SD-1 - I still have this, it's MIJ and sounds very warm and natural.. love it!
CE-2B - Bought broke, fixed it - very close to the CE-2, cool pedal!
RV-5 - very Cool pedal!
DF-2 - Cool sustainer effect, crap distortion
BF-2 - Bought it in bad shape, managed to revive it.. nice workhouse flanger.

www.bossarea.com is a great site, i used it loads when i was buying and selling boss stuff.

Re: What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

SD-1
DD-20
Overdrive/Distortion... don't like this one, gonna swap it out for a Big Muff

Re: What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

And got myself the HF-2 now....
(could have bought another BF-2 and swapped the BBD.....)
But it is more fun to get the real pedal;)

Only a metal zone right now. I need to paint some freakin lines on it so I can actually write down settings I can go back to. you move an EQ knob a millimeter and the sound changes drastically. finally found a setting that ain't so nasally. anyhoo....

Used to have:
super OD, distortion, eq, & a digital delay.

I've got an RV-2 and a DS-1. The DS-1 is socketed to allow for different clipping diodes, but I'm pretty sure I'm actually running it with the stock setup (dual silicon). I mostly just use it to drive my Rat a bit harder. the RV-2 is permanently set to the plate setting and is actually run BEFORE any of the distortion, a trick I picked up from Sune Rose Wagner.

I've got one too, I love it. Much more useful than the BF-2 to me.

Re: What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

not much, just a DS-1 and a CH-1 (Dist. and chorus respectively to those unfamiliar to Boss pedals) but hey, it's good enough for rock 'n' roll

Re: What Boss/Roland pedals do you have??

Well got a few myself...
But any other who uses them??
Modded or nonmodded does not matter!:eyecrazy:

I have a TS-9 that was modded into an ashtray, does that count?

*edit* Oh, wait, Tubies were Ibeenhad pedals..... But with the mods it can go up in smoke just as easily as any Boss.... :laugh2:
