Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

I don't own one, but they are great amps. It was at my top choice. I love the tweed look too.

What kind of music do you play?

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

no i don't own one, but i play one every time i get the chance

it definately has a lot of tricks to it, and i was gonna buy one in the near future, but after consideration i decided it wasn't twangy enough & i wanted an amp with reverb so i'm gonna pick up a hot rod deville 4x10

even so i'd still love one & will probably GAS for one for a long time

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

I played through one for a few hours in a sound proof room at GC. Cranked...

It was an experence to say the least, if you've got the cash you'd be stupid not to get it.

I love it! Great tone and it's pretty loud too, but thats rock n' roll for ya :D Not as loud as say a 100 watt Marshall, and not really loud. It distorts around 5 or 6 with PAF style humbuckers, through my testing at guitar center anyway.

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

i like to play blues/blues rock and like neil young, bob dylan, tom petty kinda stuff. really i like to play everything.

It should be perfect for you, the '59 Bassman is the original amp for that gritty blues tone, and of course some great classic rock crunch!

I think they're a great amp. I'm planning on buying one before the summer is over.

sooo you play good music then...:) :27: :)

yeah it should be a good amp for you, but be warned it's pretty loud!

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

I found my ideal dirty tone with the Bassman and a Fulltone OCD. The cleans kicked some arse as well! Unless I can snag a Z for the same price (my dream amp!) the Bassman will probably be my next big purchase.

Oh yeah, and...

+1 to this!

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

i used to own one and sold it cause it was too loud for the small clubs i play. great tone and a very fun amp to play. punchy as youll ever need

the last gig i used it at was last summer outside. i asked the sound guy how loud i could have my stage volume and he said as loud as you want :) i had a dirt box of some kind between the guitar and the front of the amp. i jumped the channels and had the volumes at about 3 with my esquire. sounded ok, but after we got going i nudged it up little by little till i got both volumes to about 9 (out of 12). after the first song, i reached down and took the pedal out of the loop. my gf was like "whats wrong?" looking all concerned from the side of the stage, i smile and said "not a thing"
after the gig i asked the sound guy if i was too loud. his responce "when you have tone like that it doesnt matter how loud you are"
of course he also mentioned that he had to bring the rest of the band up a lot in the pa to keep up with just the volume coming off the stage

my advice would be to replace two of the p10r speakers with p10q's or even better yet the weber 10a125's.

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

It's one KILLER AMP

JUMP the Channels and you know what a Fender mixed with a Marshall sounds like. As far as I am concerned it gives the best grit of ANY Fender.

I once played thru a Real 59 Bassman, and a victoria Bassman style amp - those costed $4 - $5k! If you have that kinda dough, then get those instead.

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

i wish i had that kind of dough! hey warren buffet throw a mil my way after you fill bill gates coffers! lol

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

I got one this past Xmas and I just sold it and got a Peavey Penta 1/2 stack. The '59 LTD RI is one hell of an amp, but since it's so freakin' loud I couldn't really use it. I've always plugged straight into the amp, and to get that classic JTM 45 crunch it had to be cranked. Unfortunatly the THD Hotplate doesn't work because of the way the speakers are wired. Anyway, if you'll be able to use it, I say go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

i was never a huge fan of them, too clean

Re: what do you guys think of the tweed bassman ltd reissues?

I used to have the luxury of being able to play a real deal 59 whenever I wanted to. I've played other vintage (58/59s) ones, and I goof around with the reissues when I get the itch. They are always a load of fun and have ungodly tone.

58-9 Bassmans AFAIC are the best thing Fender EVAR designed...amp OR guitar.

Get the 2 ohm hotplate (the gold one I think) and THD makes a plug-in adapter to hook up the speakers..email them and ask what the part number is..they are VERY helpful!

I have an older bassman reissue...wonderful amp!!! The ltd models are even nicer with the laquer and the rect. tube and the bias pot on the back...mmm!!
