What does Capacitor on Volume pot do?

Re: What does Capacitor on Volume pot do?

Yes. On a Strat and on a Tele too.

Couldn't get it right. Always sounded too sizzley. Especially on a Tele.

Eventually decided that Fenders didn't need it the way humbuckers sometimes do.

Some treble bleed options:

Lindy Fralin: 2200 pf cap and 220K resistor
John Suhr: 680 pf and 150K resistor
Kinman: 1.2nf and 130K resistor in series
Thanks for the reference. I was surprised when I opened up my Tele that came stock with Texas Specials to find a treble bleed on the volume. It must work because the TS are darker and hotter than a standard Tele pickup. I was afraid that it would make Strat pickups too bright period...

Well...it's worth trying. All these methods of retaining treble exist because someone prefers one over the other.

Lindy Fralin plays a Strat and he does use his "Volume Kit" on his Strat: 2200 pf and 220K resistor.

It's pretty mild and doesn't make the Strat sound too crisp or too sizzley.

But I stopped using it just because I didn't think I needed it.
