What guitar are you playing today?

I wonder if a neck pickup could be developed that lives under the right spot on a 28 fret fretboard so you get the best of both worlds.
It would have to be a custom design of course, and the coil size is important, too, for that specific humbucker sound. My thought is that it has been investigated and deemed not worth the investment to design something, as most people don't hear a difference.

If you need those two extra frets, you are most likely going to be playing high enough up the neck that it's going to sound the same as a bridge pickup anyway. If you have a 22 or 24 fret guitar, the neck pickup is usually positioned so that when fretting the highest note, it's reading the same harmonic window as the bridge.

What the hell is this neck pickup thing you guys keep talking about? I am looking for it on my guitar but can't find it.
