What guitar are you playing today?

I wonder if a neck pickup could be developed that lives under the right spot on a 28 fret fretboard so you get the best of both worlds.
It would have to be a custom design of course, and the coil size is important, too, for that specific humbucker sound. My thought is that it has been investigated and deemed not worth the investment to design something, as most people don't hear a difference.

If you need those two extra frets, you are most likely going to be playing high enough up the neck that it's going to sound the same as a bridge pickup anyway. If you have a 22 or 24 fret guitar, the neck pickup is usually positioned so that when fretting the highest note, it's reading the same harmonic window as the bridge.

What the hell is this neck pickup thing you guys keep talking about? I am looking for it on my guitar but can't find it.

I have been using my acoustic Emerald. I have a solo guitar show this weekend, and I am improvising most of it, so I am working up ways to do that.

My brother gifted me a 2003 Squier Affinity strat he came across a few months ago. I did what I do and modded the sh*t out of it. All electronics including the ground wire got yanked. Put in Duncan Lipstick Tubes and a Fender Shawbucker. Then put on Graphtech saddles and Fender locking tuners and set it up. Burnout, as he's been named, punches well above his value now and is a joy to play! Haven't been able to put him down the last few days.

Did my solo acoustic show today in St Pete, so I used my Emerald. I plug into my Fractal FM3, which is set up for effects only when using acoustic. I go stereo into 2 QSC K8.2 powered speakers. I use the FM3 for multi-band compression, reverb, and looping.

Its an '02 carvin holdsworth h2

Alder body
Alder neck (yes, you read that right)
Ebony board jumbo frets

I just installed new pots and the 36ths.

This thing sounds great with high gain. Kinda 335 meets strat clean.

Thinking about trying my transition set it it.

I always liked the Holdsworth models, but he didn't like either of them very much.

Usually I play both of my Gibson SG guitars, but for the last 6 months I've been playing my Sire Larry Carlton L3 (LP Jr. Clone) - having fun with the P90!
