What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

You can always just use the same pickgaurd, just cut out a hole with a dremel at the same angle the bridge pup is now or order a HSS style like said above^^^

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Just want to do a follow up. After trying tons of Squier/Fender guitars I finally found an 2005 Fender Strat MIM. Playing is good, sustain not so bad. I put 5 springs to lock the tremolo flat to the body.

Now I have to find a white HSS pickguard. Any place where I can get one that will fit with the trembucker-size Demon? I know that I can check eBay but I saw many comments about some not fitting perfectly.

Also, I ordered the Demon and the STK-S7 in black. Is it possible to install white covers? Where can I find them?

Last question: I don't know anything about vintage type termolos, should I upgrade it or not? Will keep it "fix" to the body.
Thanks

Look at GuitarFetish for a pickguard, but they are routed for a standard-spaced humbucker. It's a tight fit bit it works. You might want to check the string spacing the bridge of that Strat before going with a Trembucker. I believe those may be narrow enough that a standard-spaced humbucker will align better. Measure at the saddles from high E to low E.

You could also just go with the Lil' Screamin' Demon bridge model. It's a nice pickup and sounds a lot like the full-sized version. I have experience with both.

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Just check the original post of the thread. I already have the TB-12 and the STK-S7.

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Don't want to resurrect an old thread (yes I want :-P ) but I "pre" installed my stk-s7 and my screamin demon in my strat. I said pre-installed is I only wired it with one volume knob and no tone knobs as I want to hear what they sound together in my strat before commiting to anything.

They are beasts!!!!

1- The Sceamin Demon is not as bright as some says, I have a 250k pot and it's perfect, just cutting thru but not bright at all
2- STK-S7 is very hot, I have to lower it a lot to match the Demon volume. I was surprised…

They are working together very well output wise and sound wise. Strange thing is by lowering the STK-S7 to match the Demon volume, I now have a less distortion sound on the STK-S7 than on the Demon but with the same volume output: to me it's perfect as I can go from crunchy tone on the neck to just a tad more character on the bridge with just a flick of the switch.

The big surprise is really the STK-S7, it's really have more output that expected and is way more than an overwound single coil. For my usage it's working very well with the Demon. First time I can play with gain on the neck with no mud. Not true single coil sound but not humbucker sound either. I like it for a superstrat.

The Demon cleans up nicely and is very versatile. I can hear it screams at full volume but I can hear it sings blues and light rock at 4-6.

I only wired one volume knob and I see no interest in tone knobs anymore. I now need to find what to do with the remaining 2 holes in the pickgard :-)

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

How about a spin a split for the stack? And a kill switch?

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

After all that time I finally got my project MIM Strat from luthier yesterday, he installed a Graphtek nut and done a setup. Wow the action is so low and not a buzz!!!!
I really like Screaming Demon bridge, very nice medium output humbucker that remains clear with gain. Just with the guitar volume on a Plexi (11R model) I can go from blues to classic rock to '80s hard rock. Matches well with STK-S7 neck and first time I like middle position with an humbucker.
How can I post a picture?IMG_2352.jpg

Take the picture, click on the image of the tree in the square, right above where you type the text, click "choose file", find the file, then click the little black box under "choose file". Its supposed to say something in the box, but it's always just been a black box for me.

Great to see another Screamin Demon fan! I have two of them. A stock MJ made in a Les Paul and a newer one which modded with a RCUO A5 and used with a 500k pot. This turn out like you use a 250k, but a bit sleeker and attackier - if you know what i mean. Works great with an alder bodied super strat.
Enjoy your SD!
