What guitar is Todd playing here?

Thanks man. I knew someone would know. If I was a younger man, I'd hunt one down and buy it. Cool guitar, and Todd makes it sound good.

John Backlund's designs are awesome. They all have a midcentury retro-futuristic vibe that really appeals to me.
Got myself a Model 400 when they first came out, then in 2019 I scored a a Model 100 DLX, with the Les Trem.
My son used to call them the Jetsons guitars.

It reminds me of another that I've seen, but I can't quite remember what. I thought it might be like the Music Man Albert Lee, but not quite. Or Sterling?

I also have an Albert Lee, the HH model. Another cool quasi-futuristic look, and it sounds great.
Tiny, narrow neck though - designed for really small hands; I'm told the same profile is used on the St Vincent.
There are certain chords I just can't use when I'm playing it. The oil & wax neck finish sure feels amazing in your hand though.
Every once in a while I think about selling it. But I like it too much to let it go. If it had a fat neck it's be a favorite.

I love the St. Vincent. If I was 20 years younger, I'd have one.

Yah, I see extreme designs as more appropriate for younger players too.
I'm in my sixties now, and quit accumulating futuristic guitars a few years ago.
Doesn't stop me from rocking the ones I have, though. They draw comments.
"Hey, what IS that??!"

I've got a handful of other unusual ones I pull out every now and then.

An Albert Lee is so much nicer than the original one in this thread. It looks futuristic, but not so much that it couldn't be an every day guitar. I'll own one someday.
