Yngwie may be an exception. He has endorsed Dimarzio for years, and still swears by them, Marshalls and his Fender sig model, which is largely unchanged in years. Have to give him credit....

Right, and we all more or less know Yngwie's... explosive personality.
If he can find two or three companies he's happy with and stay with/by them, anyone can :9:


Now I've never seen the original Peavey Wolfgangs but I've played the current HP Specials and the EBMM Axis and apart from the double cut of the HP Specials I didn't notice much differences looks-wise.

The EBMM felt better crafted alright but for whatever reason I jived a whole lot more with the HP Special, the all basswood version (no maple top) too...
It was the most effortless 80s tone and vibe I had ever got...

the thing i like about the HP special is the top horn it has ala strat. It doesnt have that tele thing going which i dont care for. Subconsiously it kind freaks me out and gives me a mental block on how to handle and what to play on the guitar.
I much prefer if the top had another horn as in the HP special or a strat.

But the EBMM build is much better than the Peavey.
Sometimes i think of taking my EBMM AXIS to my luthier and having him carve out a Top horn. Hmmmmmm.......
Wouldnt be that difficult to do except maybe the binding.

He did it cause he was a poor slob at the time. he could have found a good guitar tech in LA to do just about wahtever he wanted and probably for not that much money. Probably he is a tightwad too. Oh well..look, it paid off. You'd have to say he did the right thing.

I have heard that after Ed hammered the Gibson frets in Frankie's original neck, it was unplayable 'till an LA luthier fixed it for him. Total nightmare from what I understand.

You do understand though that without that wood the guitar will sound VERY different from before though, right?

It might. I dont know if it would make that huge of a difference.

It was just a thought anyway. I wouldnt want to deystroy or make major changes to the gutiar that i wouldnt be able to sell later if i wanted to,

dont know how much of a change it would make though. I would thats for sure. I would just like it so much more if it was more strat shaped. Know what i mean??

its pretty much the same except for the peavey wolfgang had kind a scoop thing at the top of the head stock, and the new EVH wolfgang has that taken out, so it looks like a can opener at the top. the knobs are know MXR knobs like he had on his kramer 5150. those are the only things you would real notice anyways

some of the new Wolfgang models look like they are thicker and have LP Custom style binding on them.. at least the White one Ed was using for a lot of stuff on the last half of the VH tour..

ya im guessing he was promoting all three versions of the new wolfie on the tour. 1. the black one (the less expensive special) 2. the sunburst one (the middle of the lot standard) 3. the white one (the top of the lot standard deluxe). just guessing tho

why in the heck doesnt he just go back to the regular old strat body though?
from the changes he has made to his design over the years he is almost there anyway.

ya i agree. but i think its kind of a "best of both worlds" thing. some-what of a strat type body, double cut, but the thikness and balls of a les paul. i thinks its a good combo

eh, you get the thickness and balls from the Basswood anyway. Plus he should put big blocks in em. I think he should make something like the charvel EVH's with pretty maple tops and bog block in em. thats all. those would go like hot cakes.

ya i took the block off the floyd of my '85 baretta reissue and threw a big block on there and the tone is awesome and this thing has even more sustain than it did before (and it had a lot to begin with)

Thickness? Balls? From Basswood (which is spelled with a silent 'B' btw)? :lol: Never heard that in the same sentence before...:kidding:

I keed! I make joke with you! Never been a fan of it myself, though lots of people (EVH included, these days - though he used to be an Ash guy )swear by it...
