What if you could only use one brand

Re: What if you could only use one brand

EHX, EQD and Strymon are three, not one! but too bad because I have a license. .

Re: What if you could only use one brand

Catalinbread, not a doubt in my mind. Too bad they don't make a wah, but I'd get over it pretty quick.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

I love the new Seymour Duncan products, but the range isn't varied enough for what I need.

I love the Strymon stuff, but I still prefer analog for dirt.

If I didn't need a wah, I'd say Wampler.

Since I do, I'd have to go with Dunlop/MXR/CAE... Their range of products is staggering and their quality of both construction and sound is very, very good.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

I am quite boring as my band board only has an OD (MXR gt-od) and two delays (Boss DD7 & MXR carbon copy) so boss or MXR would be my answer. That said I do sometimes swap the OD for my Seymour Duncan pickup booster which makes my amp sing in a nice way.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

Has to be Fulltone.

I'd say Suhr if there was a delay in the product line.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

Probably Electro-Harmonix, though I'm not really much of an effects user. I do have a '70's Big Muff that I could never part with, and I love their Screaming Bird, Deluxe Memory Man, and Graphic Fuzz. Their Wiggler tremolo is weak, though; I like SD's better, because the controls are much more useful.

I'd say Fulltone, if I had to choose only one. Ideally, I'd fill in their gaps with Strymon or EH.

As it is, the pedal brands I own the most of are...

T. Rex
Fulltone
MXR/Dunlop
Bogner

Re: What if you could only use one brand

A very short time ago, I'd have said Seymour Duncan also. But I recently acquired an MXR 6-band EQ and I'm loving that thang. It's an essential part of my chain. So, I have to go with Dunlop/MXR. If Seymour develops a nice EQ, they'll get my vote back.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

After re-thinking this, I'm going to say BBE and put them at the top of my list.

First, they have a great boost in the Boosta Grande, and a boost is an integral part of my sound. They offer another boost under the G&L brand, the Double Barrel, which is slightly different.

They have a couple of different compressors.

They have several OD, distortion and fuzz boxes to choose from.

I REALLY like their Ben-Wah. I'm kicking myself for not getting one I saw at the last guitar show I went to. One of the best.

I don't think they offer a phasor, but their Mind Bender (chorus), Soul Vibe, and Tremor (tremolo) pedals are all very nice, and those would cover 90% of my modulation effects needs.

For delay, they have the Two-Timer with switchable settings. No tap tempo, but it works as well as my current delay, a Rocktron Short-Timer. A very under-rated pedal that's going on my board soon.

And then there's the Sonic Stomp, which in some rigs could be a very handy pedal.

I think all of these are true bypass, and they come with a 9-volt adaptor. BBE-even offers a Supa-Charger power supply. They all have a 5-year warranty, so they are built to last. Best of all, they don't sell at boutique prices.

Unfortunately, that leaves me without a tuner or a phasor, but I think BBE offers a broad range of pedals that could suit me well.

But there is always Boss, and they are hard to beat. The best option might just be a GT-100 enhance it from there.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

There is one thing that could get me to change my answer, if Lovepedal made a high quality tape echo effect then it'd be perfect. I mean, 3/5 of my pedalboard are already Lovepedal (well, 2/5, but I've got a downpayment on the third), and their tremelo is apparently really solid too.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

I'd cheat. I would do what I do now: I have all Tc electronic pedals (except the 535Q and the soul food), and the rest of them I DIY (all other drive pedals)...

When I would really have to buy all my pedals, I have a couple of brands I could choose from: Catalinbread, tc electronic, wampler, EHX, boss. In that order.

Re: What if you could only use one brand

ISP Electronics just because of their Decimator G String ii. I also liked their Stealth preamp pedal for high gain stuff.

Screaming Bird!!! Yikes. . .do you have a really dark amp?? That pedal is pretty ummm. . .shrill sounding!

Re: What if you could only use one brand

MXR! I don't use a lot of pedals, but I'm still using the same Dyna Comp and Phase 100 pedals that I've been using since the mid-1980s and they're still working and sounding great!
