What is all the hype about the rockman?

The appeal of the original Rockman as far as I know was that it was the first real headphone amp . . .

That's how I remember it, but then again, I've only spent about 15 - 20 minutes with one, about 40 years ago.

My friend called me up 'cause he had something cool for me to check out. It was the original Rockman Headphone amp.
I thought it was killer, but it was during my GI bill college days. I had no spare coinage.

That's all I know.

I remember getting out of the long limousine in Toronto beginning of '90s, with my guitar in a Kramer gigbag and my Rockman in front pocket. It was actually me and my IT coworkers getting a limo from the airport as it was cheaper than tow cabs. I was bringing my guitar to have fun after dinner.
Anyway I add the "Bon Jovi look" back then and people were getting pics of me entering the Hilton hotel lobby, hopping to have photographed a rock star!
Since it was 35mm camera, they must had a bad surprise viewing their pictures the week later (when the roll was developed and printed).

I still have my Rockman and it was revolutionary, but it's no competition now to my other silent practice gear. And I still have the Sustainer and the Chorus/Delay modules.

Excellent memories! :beerchug:
