What is an Equalizer?

Okay,..I have a Marshall MG50DFX combo. The cleans on it are amazing (mostly why i got it)...but the distortion is horrible. So...I have a Boss DS-1 that i switch to on my clean channel. Well the distortion is good, but i want it a bit more warmer and rounder. Would an equalizer do this, plus be able to boost the volume?
If an equalizer can't,..is there any way to?

Re: What is an Equalizer?

Yes, an equilizer can help fix the tones problems of the boss pedal and increase the volume, another option I can think of the definetly helps with volume is the Seymour Duncan Pick-up booster.
It has options to make a single coil sound like either a vintage or a madern humbuckers, so while boosting the signal it creates great tone, just another option for ya...
Rock On. :smoker:

Re: What is an Equalizer?

Did you use the suggested manual settings? Sometimes they sound better than what we just up and dial in on the fly. I had that amp one time and the cleans (sometimes with 'verb) were gorgeous.

Re: What is an Equalizer?

i have one too. try using the presets that were with the manual. it sounds better on those settings or try going to this site:

http://www.tonesettings.com/tone/Marshall/27/

they have pretty good settings there. i love the 70's drive setting for my MG50DFX.

try the boss ge-7 or some other equalizers to fix your problem. also try what Kac said. the SD pickup Booster or BBE Sonic Maximizer.. hope this helps. :1:

Re: What is an Equalizer?

boost the mids all the way, play with bass heavy tones, and cut back on the gain.

thats what I did, and i found a good, round but tight sound.
