What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

Gonna ride the PATB wagon and say, Crazy 8!!!

(BTW, others have said so before but this is one pickup you DON'T want to screw in and be done with it as the pickup height makes ALL the difference in the world. Personally I can't decide at which height I like it better. Closer to the strings it's the ultimate riff machine, further away the supreme JB-class soloist...)

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

So many different factors like amp guitar type and woods it's hard to pick just one.
Right now I'm digging the Custom-5's I swapped in an A8 mag a LOT in two of my Washburn MG's and the Stock late 80's-early 90's M22SD's in my Carvin Pointy's.

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

Usually it is the Air Zone, but my H-500 has me voting for the JB. Absolutely fantastic with a 59n and a five-way super switch.

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

(1) Blackouts "Ceramic" for both positions
(2) Full Shred set
(3) JB, Classic Stack, '59n combo

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

In no order of preference:

Pickup - Strongest characteristics (IMO)

Custom 5 - bouncy low end, clarity
Screaming Demon - refined PAF tone, crunch
BL L-500XL - tightness, tightness and tightness
BK Holydiver - deepness, ultimate string separation, completely bold distortion
VHPAF - breath

Invader, Evo, Full Shred and L500XL...still itching to play a SuperD though...

SH-12 Bridge!

In my M2 Custom, I have an SH12 in the bridge and a lil' 59 in the neck. It's just such a nice, versatile, well-matched combination :D

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

Crazy8 it just has this cool mix of clairity , tightness ,harmonics, and compression ,that sounds like nothing else

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

Double D, baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who thinks this doesn't have a tight arse and isn't angry is doing it wrong. To my ears, it's an L500 without the flabby bottom!

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

PRS Dragon II: Lovely under lower gain conditions, seriously pissed off with distortion. When you're playing well it rewards you...
JB: Quintessential midrange crunch

Hm... that's all for now!

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

The fact that nearly every bridge bucker Duncan manufactures was listed by someone shows you the caliber company it is.

Pretty darn impressive.

My vote is Jazz bridge, btw. Well, from Duncan.

I use TV Jones in just about everything else though.

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

i like my 59B, maybe i shouldn't change a good thing, who's with me? :D

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

I like the 78 best of all.

Also the Duncan Custom and Custom Custom.

I like, but don't love, the Custom 5...not enough mids when played at lower volumes. Sounds good cranked through a loud amp though.

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

Depends on what body wood the pickup is in, but for mahogany (Which is my favourite wood) it's the C5.

I've played a friend's GLP many times and his comob is the C5/Jazz which is THE best combo for a GLP imho.

So, the C5 pour moi.

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

I gotta agree with Metalblaze and go with the VHPAF... with 250k pots though, Great "hot" pickup, roll down the vol a little and get a good PAF tone, and coil taps to a great single coil tone with the volume rolled down a little.

Re: What is your favorite Bridge humbucker pickup?

Most people have more experience having tried EVERYTHING, and I am looking for a new fave - sooo in order:

1) Alnico 2 Pro - NEVER fails, I have owned soo many of these!
2) Dimarzio Air Zone - just a great pup if you want thick and clean
3) Gibson Angus Young
4) Dimarzio Air Classic - had one in a Music Man Silhouette Special and it really killed!

I would put the C5 in there, but I am searching for a more middy version, and Guy That Invented Fire suggested to Brobucker and 59/C5 hybrid to me, and possibly the EVH.

I'd give special mention to Voodoo's etc - but they are all soooo pricey I usually try them in friend's guitars. Funny thing though - most signed guys with decent cash that I know do Duncans without thinking - APH1's, 59's, and JB's - hmmmmm

For singles:

1) Nocaster Tele Bridge - WOW!
2) Lil 59 because it lets you have a strat that has humbucker vibes
3) Dimarzio Virtual T
