What Kind Of Guitar Strap/Straps Do You Play With?

I've got a ton of those little cheap 2" wide nylon straps that I used to play with alot. However, nowadays I've got a couple of 3" wide leather Levy's straps that I just love. I really love the adjustable tri-glide on them that allow me to place the length exactly where I want them. They are so comfortable!!

Here are the two that I use now whenever I am standing and playing guitar.

I just bought this 2-3 weeks ago off of ebay for right around $27.

I bought one just like this a few months back off of ebay for I think only $14 or something like that. Not that it matters, but I believe it's the same type that James Hetfield uses.

I like a decent leather strap that's 3" wide or so. I have some that I like from Levy, Fender, Gibson, and others. I'm not too picky as long as it's comfortable, durable, can be adjusted to the length I want, and aesthetically goes with the guitar. They usually get straplocks, either Dunlop or Schaller.

I use the Levy's leather straps almost exclusively. I really discovered them when I started playing Les Pauls. They help distribute the weight more comfortably and like you said they are adjustable down to the smallest degree. I have a couple of leather straps that say Fender or Gibson on them as well....I can't remember if they are Levy's or not, but very similar.

I only have one or 2 straps left that are not leather. One is an American flag motif and the other is kind of a zen one with stars and moons on it that I put on my Dana Scoop.

I didn't look closely enough at the picture. Mine are all similar to this style, whether they have the Levy's logo or not. I have not tried one with the slide like in the OP.

And yes.I use a wide Gibson strap when playing my Tokai Love Rock LP.

I guess that's why I love my Levy's straps so much.

The strap I got for my Squier 5-string bass is a Levy's. It's every bit of 3-1/2" wide, soft leather, very comfortable -- which is a good thing, because that Squier bass is the heaviest man-made object in history.

The Levy's straps are reasonably priced, too -- even at the old store I used to go to, where everything like that was full retail.

B2D posted about these a while ago and there great......They're into being a vegen company but I just think they make awesome straps... The vinyl ones are made from vintage luggage material and are super comfy and well-made.....I also have one made from recycled seat belt strapping....more utilitarian but obviously very durable....lotsa cool cool colors and pattern and most are pretty reasonable...

One fender monogram strap, one perri's 2.5" suede strap in black, one Planet Waves rough leather 2.5" strap in white, and then on my strat I use a no-name purple faux-snakeskin dealy

I have a strap from the late 60's that my uncle used on his bass, I use it for my explorer. both of my other guitars have dimarzio strap clippy things.

Kepur straps. Resistant to fluids. Easy to clean. Pure black. Cures the need for straplocks. Stitchless. Indestructible. Not really expensive. Etc. The list is too amazing.

My main strap was made for me by a friend's girlfriend who did leatherwork back in1973. They went to Sydney and bought a large piece of leather big enough to make two of these straps, one each for me and my mate. It is 4" wide, and one single piece. originally it was very stiff, but I've had it now for 37 years and every year or so I treat it with saddle soap. It's a real vintage piece of leather now, still strong and it will last the rest of my life. It's been at every gig i've ever played since it was made, always the one I use because of the width.

I have a Slider strap to use with my LP .... the Slider is a harness type arrangement that goes over both shoulders and drastically reduces the percieved weight of a guitar ... it makes the LP feel about the weight of a Strat, and a Strat feel like a toy. I have a bad back, so I had to find a way to make things easier, esp. when playing a LP.

I have a huge assortment of regular Fender straps, ranging from new to probably 30 years old, a couple of leather Gibson-style ones and a couple of those narrow leather straps with the sliding shoulder pad. The most recent one I got is a Planet Waves one with the classic Vox speaker cloth design, I think they cal it the 'Class A' or something. But it always comes down to the big wide leather one that was made for me back in '73.

I have 4 Levy's Checkerboard 2in. Nylon, 2 Levys Black 2in. Nylon, 1 Levy's American flag 2in. Nylon, 2 Unknown brand Checkerboard cloth over Nylon ones also 2in., 1 Black with multiple Batman logoed 3 inch Leather strap, and I have a Levy's 3 inch Leather Checkerboard that get used for most of my Vs and Explorers. I also have an assortment of leftovers from years gone by. Anyone need a slighty used Black on Pink Snakeskin 3in. Leather strap? :nono:
