What mic should I get?

My budget is around $100 and I need a mic that really picks up all the sound within a room, or at least has a decent range for picking up sound. I will primarily be using it to capture audio for the films I make (AKA it will be mobile, being used side-by-side with my camera), but occasionally use it to record little live jam sessions (one acoustic guitar and a piano at the same time).

So this doesn't exactly have to be uber-professional. A good entry level mic is fine.

Considered a shotgun mic mounted to a camera?
I have, but it really doesn't matter because I'd be running the mic through my TonePort anyways, so it'll likely be stationary for the most part. I basically need something that will do a good job of picking up conversation-volume dialogue, along with a tiny bit of background noise.
