A Boss BD-2 or an Ibanez TS9.
If the new Electro Harmonix LBP-1 is any good, try one. Just gain, no tone boost. The MXR Micro Amp does sort of the same thing.
I prefer a clean boost, but sometimes use a cheap Graphic EQ for a mid boost.
turned my laney into a ****ing mesa boogie :headbang:
why would you do that!
Actually that is exactly how I use mine - I have the distortion all the way off and it boosts the gain just enough to bring a solo out front.Arion Tubulator.......You know I had to say it.
This is going to depend on how much gain you have already from the amp and how much more you're wanting. Some amps provide so much that adding an OD or distortion pedal out front only produces mud.
From your sig I see you have an El Diablo. IIRC, those have quite a bit of gain on tap. You shouldn't need a pedal to get more, unless you dial the gain on the amp back to allow for more without turning to mud.
who wouldnt want a mark series distortion tone, for playing heavy metal?
rarely anybody.. and if they do, they already got some booteek stuff![]()
but like i said.. put the amp into slight overdrive.. just so it's breaking up, then hit it with an OD and send it into meltdown.
