What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

For Overdrive and Sustain?
I am using a Marshall Bluesbreaker II, Marshall Jackhammer and a Spina modded Boss Super Overdrive.

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

Fulltone OCD when I want grit, but most of the time, I play my Strat fairly clean.

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

I'm not really using overdrive as much as I thought I would. Mainly I keep my amp just at the point of break up, and picking dynamics set it over the edge. That said, I'd love to try out a Fulltone OCD with my rig.

A Maxon RI 808 OD.

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

Spina modded TS-9 for the most part, but have been tinkering around using a CM Plexitone as well.

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

Spina modded Sparkle Drive, Bad monkey (worth twice what they sell for, at least) and an M.I. Audio Crunchbox.

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

I normally use little OD or Distortion boxes with Stock starts... i prefer to use my stock single coil strats more cleaner and just have a medium crunch.... But when i do add boxes it is mostly a ts10 tube screamer or a Boss DS1

This, into a cranked tube amp.

This little guy right here. Better than any tubescreamer I've heard IMHO. It's got more smoke and more heat plain and simple. Very tubey sounding as well. Most people are amazed by it's sound and yet most guitarists are too snobby to own a $13 pedal (you can get them at musician's friend for $13). I have never failed to impress with the tone this thing gets, but most folks wrinkle their noses at it's looks, construction and COST. The circuit is nice inside, but the rest looks and feels like a toy. They are well built though. I've never heard of one crapping out on anyone.

I've gots to give this tubulator a try ......... I play my "invadered" MIA Strat through STRUTDELUXER mod TS9 reissue(the greatest pedal on the face of the planet) into my Kustom practice amp or my Laney AOR Pro-Tube.

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

Part of the reason that I am looking for a strat is that they accept Fuzz pedals so well. Les Pauls tend to sound a little muddy with them, which fuzz pedals (as seen with Jimi Hendrix) sound perfect!

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

As far as OD and sustain pedals go I have a Fulltone Fulldrive 2, G2D Custom Overdrive, Fulltone Fat Boost and a Spina modded TS9 Tubescreamer on my board. I also have an EMMA ReezaFRATzitz, ZVex Super Duper 2in1, MIJ BOSS SD1 Super Overdrive and a Russian EH Big Muff too :)

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

In the live rig, a Boss SD-1 or Boss DS-1 depending on what sound I'm going after. Both have been modded by myself.

I also have a few other pedals laying around I mess with at home, a Rangemaster clone, a couple other boosters I built, and a Wylde OD, which is used mainly for metal.

But with my Strat, or any of my guitars for that matter, it's the SD-1 or DS-1.

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

I used to use a Boss metal zone...until I got my new SD pickups and my Marshall TSL 100!!

Re: What Pedals do you use with your Stratocaster...

I use a RAT 2 with the distortion set pretty low-- just enough to get a slightly gritty sound, and I use the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster to drive the RAT further for more distorted sounds.

I run this into a Bassman, and I find it rather useful for covering a wide range of gain settings.
