What pots for an SH-5 (Custom) in a HS Telecaster

Hey guys,

For my next project I'm thinking of getting a Squier Bullet Tele (HS) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/squier-bullet-hs-telecaster-electric-guitar/h99378000002000

It's got a basswood body, maple neck, rosewood board. I'm thinking of getting a Custom (SH-5) and doing a coil tap and using 250k pots. I'm going for a kind of medium rock/metal sound (basically songs like Snuff by Slipknot or What If Was Nothing by All That Remains). It will probably stay in Drop C# (the tuning for those songs). Do you guys think this is a good choice?

Also could you recommend a neck pickup that will be modern, versatile and smooth (I liked the Five Two in the neck of an old Tele I have) and a nice compliment to the split Custom.

Thanks

I'm afraid Custom with 250k pots in Drop C# would be a mud city. I'd say go with Lil Screamin Demon or Cool Rails with 500k pots.

The Tele has a full sized bucker for a bridge. So maybe a regular Screamin Demon? I also want something that splits well for single coil sound. Maybe 500k pots? Since the pup isn't attached to a bridge plate (like a normal Tele) will it still have the highs?

I'd go 500k pots. 250k for that pickup in that tuning to me sounds pike a bad idea.

Get a TB spaced humbucker. I'd go with the TB-5 Custom for the sounds you're looking at. 500k pots for sure.

Sorry, what I meant is Custom in the bridge and Cool Rails or Lil Screamin'in Demon the neck. And yeah, 500k pots.
