I bought 2 used SD pickups and I am trying to verify what they are. they are both black, HB Strat pups and I think they are both little '59s. One of them has a sticker on the bottom that says "59N". The DCR is about 8.45K. The other one looks exactly the same and has no sticker and the DCR is around 11.2k. I am guessing this is the bridge version of the '59. I installed them in a G&L Legacy and they sound fantastic, although the "59N" (neck positon) seems slightly hotter than the one with the higher resistance (installed in the bridge). Nothing that adjusting the height won't take care of though. So, what do I have? If they are both 59's, what magnet material are they made of?
Part 2) Now that I have the bridge and Neck position covered, I wonder What I should put in the middle position that will balance with the other pups? My original intention was to put a JB in the bridge, but I am now thinking that the unknown pup in there is working out well and I don't need to be any hotter. I also thought that I could move the 59n to the mid position and put a better single coil pup in the neck. I do lots of SRV and Hendrix stuff so it would be nice to retain some of the "Stratiness" for that and go to the bridge for the heavier leads.
thanks
