What to buy?

I have a Jackson Dinky with a Duncan Distortion-bridge, Jazz-neck, 3way switch, one tone and one volume pot.

I want to install new wiring, new CTS tone(w/ new orange drop capacitor) and volume pots, new CRL 3 way switch, and a new output 1/4" jack.

I am going with CTS 500K pots -3/8" split shaft.
Q#1- Are these just called audio pots and will these work for both tone and volume?

Q#2- What guage wire would be best? Would 22 gauge pvc covered wire with a copper single-conductor wire, 0.050" diameter be ok to wire everything up with?

Q#3- On the Sey. Duncan wiring diagram it says I need a .047 cap for the tone pot. Would I need a 600 volt or a 200 volt .047 cap?

Thanks in advance:cool2:

Re: What to buy?

1. Yes
2. Doesn't matter, if your guitar has shielded cavities and pickguard.
3. Doesn't matter.

Re: What to buy?

I've got a PRS SE on the way and it's got 1 tone 1 volume with a three way and I'm going to use a .022 cap with 50's wiring on it. I don't believe the volt capacity matters.

Re: What to buy?

Thank you guys. My guitar doesn't have sheiled cavities or a pickgaurd so which wire would be suitable?

These guys got you covered!

I dig your user name though! The Evil Dead movies are some of my favorites!

Re: What to buy?

I recommend you buy your pots from rsguitarworks.net. go to their webstore and look for their "Super Pots".

Re: What to buy?

Generally I think "linear" pots are better for volume and "logarithmic" ones are better for tone. Although I rarely mess with the tone pots anyway and if I had a guitar with them, I'd just have them there unhooked like Yngwie.
