What to expect?

In the next week or two I'll be trying a CC/APH set in my strat, which has an alder body and birdseye maple neck. What should I expect from this setup? Warm, bright, smooth, raunchy? I'm just curious what it might possibly sound like before I have a chance to bust out the soldering iron.

EDIT: I should also mention that right now there are 250k pots in the guard, if really necessary I can switch them for 500k ones.

Re: What to expect?

Click on my soundclips, and give a listen to Heavens Door. That was recorded with my double fat strat, CC/APH set. Only difference is I've got a rosewood neck and a floyd type bridge in my strat.

CC for distorted rythym, APH for clean and Solo's.

Re: What to expect?

the CC is not bad at all, i liked it in one of my strats but found it to be a bit too mid focused for my taste and lacking a bit of low end...but not thin. ok, so it's hard to explain in text lol.

You're what? Why are you doing this to me? huh?

Just trying them while they're here, don't want to sell them untested (sort of like the XL/R set, remember ;) ).

Re: What to expect?

Shouldn't you perhaps have been asking what to expect before you ordered the pickups? :laugh2:

Although, if I read right, your above post implies you got them somehow else. I think. Still though.

I got them to try in a different guitar, but the first set I tried there (C5/59) won me over immediately. These are probably going to get sold off, but I wanted to try them in the strat just for kicks.

Fair enough then. Worth a try - might work well.
