WHat way would you do it?

Re: WHat way would you do it?

So, it's true. You really do have x-ray vision! :D

Re: WHat way would you do it?

Has anyone noticed the spacing of the frets?

Too much time in the old wood shed!

Re: WHat way would you do it?

For anyone ''confused'' This guitar is my take on a ujr sky guitar.

''Uli Jon Roth has had five Sky guitars constructed by a British luthier Andreas Demetriou. To be able to emulate the high notes of a violin, all of the Sky Guitars contain extra frets. The first Sky Guitar (used on the album Beyond the Astral Skies) has 30 frets. Later versions of the Sky Guitar overcame the problem of the higher register frets becoming too narrow by widening the frets by whole steps for the highest notes. The guitars named Mighty Wing and Destiny each have 7 strings while the first three have 6 strings. The 7th string is a low B string''

Re: WHat way would you do it?

Also others have done it. People who make guitars by hand without cnc machines and other aids that take away the magic of the build.

The guy from doberman guitars has done a few the same. Full credit to him for this masterpiece.

yes it's over the top but i am not interested in doing stuff that has been done thousands of times before. The only way to truly learn is to break the fetters and go beyond strats and teles.

Re: WHat way would you do it?

This evo gold wire is miles better than the **** i have been using. Looking forward to trying some of there other stock.

I was sweating bullets hammering in that last fret. Originally i was going to grind the tangs off and glue it in but i decided to just risk it. Worked fine.

Re: WHat way would you do it?

you know you can always glue, sand to level and paint dude? also glue is stronger than raw wood.... but i think you're too much of a perfectionist for using a broken and glued to one piece mini pickguard..... good luck K-man, we're waiting for the visual thunder that new build will be

Re: WHat way would you do it?

I think you were trying to hone out too thin of sections

plastics don't have the grain structure and should be much better

good luck

Yeah i could do that for sure and i was planning on painting it anyway. But something is telling me its not worth the effort.

You mean visual blunder?

I think you were trying to hone out too thin of sections

Really? haha yeah but what choice do i have?

The plastic will be fine. I had the choice of aluminum but i will be using black hardware so thats out.

Nar, i haven't heard back from the guy making me the pickup rings. But i have been busy doing other things.

I did this rough mock up last night.

I like it.

Thanks! ON a different note I scored this huge double sliding door frame with windows either side and on top. I am going to make myself a sweet workshop that backs on to my soon to be jam room. I will need to cut a door to the outside from my house so it might be one of those renovations gone wrong situations.
