whats your favorite guitar solo?

Re: whats your favorite guitar solo?

Marty Freidman - Tornado of Souls - This is the greatest solo in the history of heavy metal. Sure, there are better known solos, but this is the best. This is not subjective. I am right, and if you disagree, you are wrong.

Eric Clapton - Old Love - There are many versions, but check out the performance on 24 Nights. Wow.

Joe Satriani - Always With Me, Always With You

These two get nods for awesome solos in terrible songs:
George Lynch - We Don't Own This World - This was the track with the Nelson twins... need I say more?
Blues Saraceno - That's the Way I like It - This was on the album he did with Poison. Killer tone, very tasty solo, totally tragic song.

for me, its something that trey anastasio played on some version of maze. the one from this summer tour at the fox theatre was ridiculous but its impossible to pick just one.

Re: whats your favorite guitar solo?

We Americans outside of some the foundation blues masters seem to forget that it's not fully about speed or level of difficulty and that type of stuff as well.

+1. Speed is nice, but not at the expense of feeling and emotion. While impressive from a technical perspective, shredders sound artificial & sterile to me. Too much bombast & fanfare. It's like mixing professional wrestling with guitars. I think the most expressive & moving electric guitarist was Peter Green from 1967 to 1970. No hyper-speed scales, no whammy bar stunts, no spandex, women's make up, or monster masks, just pure emotion & technical mastery. You don't need a circus on stage or some phony bad-boy image created by a PR firm. Just play the guitar, without all the baggage and distractions. That's what's impressive, a man and a guitar.

The one in In The Evening...it sounds like Page is picking the sound up off the floor and then flying with it.

Dio - "Egypt (the chains are on)", Vivian Campbell playing.

Michael Schenker, "I don't wanna lose". Glammy album, good guitar work.

Asia - "Without you". Steve Howe playing.
