Thanks for the reply. I also find that the stock DS-1 does not sound very good to my ears. These types of pedals are such a personal thing when it comes to the Tone we are looking for. Now I have to decide if I want to buy a new DS-1, send it to John, and hope it has the sound I want. I wish I still lived in Tampa John! :smack:

Out-of-the-box, the tone was kind of harsh & metallic to my ears stock - not useful at all, even for $39.99.
Now I love the little beastie It's much warmer, and has more of an analogue feel to the distortion. The tone control is much more useful, and the range on the distortion knob is too.
