I like gain with dynamics and sensitivity not just over the top compression and sludge.
Both my Fender Prosonics and the Tonemasters + the later Zinky branded stuff like the MOFO, Blue Velvet and Superfly stuff from Bruce Zinky are my favorite high gain amps. Followed by the REAL Ken Fisher Trainwreck amps for their amazing touch sensitivity and singing qualities then close behind are the Soldanos and Splawns.

How can we have a high-gain amp thread and not include this:

Because good luck trying to get that thing repaired. If the lack of reputable schematics and getting ahold of ENGL don't **** you over, trying to get anywhere close to the traces with a soldering iron will, as they will raise up off of the PCB.

For some reason ^ this ^ amp reminds me of the (short lived ?) H&K WARP amp.

(probably due to the name)
I see they are not on the H&K site any more - probably been replaced by the uber-corny named Coreblade model ?

Eh, the Sig:X is way better than that amp. I had the solid state model, was my first head with almost usable amp distortion, though after awhile I hated it and thought the tube version clips sounded even worse. In comparison, I thought the Switchblade and Coreblade sounded better. C'est la vie.

Don't knock it before you try it. There be Swamp Thangs in those cabs. They sound huge!
