Now for a monumental task.

Would someone like to make an estimate/"guesstimate" of the total value of all this gear (present fair market value)

Starting with Lew's gear. Maybe more than his existing mortgage. (meant in good fun, Lew)
All being said, I'm fairly sure that he is one very happy camper.

In the past, there was another thread that asked for the amount that people had spent on their gear through time. most of them were very "surprised" with the bottom line.
Me included !!

I'm sure most of us will keep on shoppin and spendin.
GAS strikes when you least expect it.

Dave

Well, I've spent about 3800€ (that's about 4500$ for you folks!) on my main rig that I posted.

Damn.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

One of 4 guitars:
Strat clone
Benedect Benelectro with Tele pickups
Guild S-300
Tele copy w P-90s (for slide)
into a Vox Tonelab SE, into the FX return of a Boogie Mark IIB.

The Tonelab has 5 sets of patches, each set tuned for each of the guitars, & one "General Purpose" set that'll work for all of them.

Or, I'll just take a guitar & the amp, with a Crybaby & a Digitech Screaming Blues, if I don't need to be particularly clean.

Total cost, ~$3K? Nothing was over a grand.

Does "Damn" mean:

Damn fine decisions I made!
or
Damn fine way to spend money!
or
Damn glad I bought this gear at such great prices!
or
Damn pleased that I was able to buy my stuff just in time!(before the store sold it to another eager customer)

I'm sure that meant something like one of the above...right
....maybe it is used differently in Finland

P.S. My wife has all of the above (and more) memorized from my past gear purchases.

Cheers

Cheers, for they're quite in demand with this kind of subject! I guess that it's most beneficial to think about it in all the ways you mentioned. I'm afraid of the consequences otherwise.

P.S. I'm actually so afraid, that I'll better not mention that estimate to my better half. Who knows how she'd take that "damn".

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Most my gigging stuff is in my sig...I have an NYC pedalboard with all my pedals on it, so everything usually goes to the gig, but a lot of the time I'm only using the FD2 and a bit of delay. The tuner and volume pedal get used a bunch too, of course, and I just like to have options, particulalry since I play a lot of different styles...

My Mesa is my main gigging amp. It has a monster clean channel and has a lot of gain if I need it...with the addition of the FD2 I can cover most tones I need. I just got a DSL, so I might be using that in rock contexts just for a change of pace...

My main gigging guitar is probably my Strat. Super versatile...I use my semi-hollow a fair amount too, and the LP has been getting used more and more. I use my 175 for jazz gigs...

Overall cost...hmm...I'm a big time wheeler and dealer, so things are always coming and going, and I buy cheap stuff a lot...my last two purchases were broken when I bought them and I fixed them for under $5. My big ticket items are my Classical($3500), my 175($1800), and my Mesa ($1200). Everything else was less than a $1000. It definitely adds up, though...I bet I've got $10k in my rig...I justify it to myself by saying "I play for a living" :D

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

My rig is pretty simple and inexpensive at the moment.

Dean Vendetta XM - Stock pups

Traynor Reverb Mate 40 8x8

DigiTech RP100

I'll be getting a Vendetta 1.0 in the near future and a Super Distortion will go in the bridge. I'm not sure what'll go in the neck, I might just keep the stock neck pup in there. Dean's stock pickups sound pretty damn good to me.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Main Guitars =

06 Gibson SG Standard (w/ bridge & neck Invaders!) and-
01 Gibson Les Paul Studio (bridge Full Shred, neck Super Distortion).

Amps/cabs =

1985 Marshall JCM 800 2204 (50 watt),,
+ Marshall 1960AX cab (100 watt cab, with four 25watt greenback speakers)-- I get my tone by running the master volume at 8, which pushes the tubes hard, and heavily breaking-up the 25 watt speakers... which is my main part of my tone! I always record like this. I believe this plays a huge role in EVH's tone as well !(i've heard he blows speakers all the time, but it's worth it for his tone!)

Pedals =

Dunlop Slash Wah,
EVH Flanger,
ProCo RAT,
Reverend Drivetrain I,
MXR Phase 90.

- - I only pull out the pedal board when i'm recording.... but I like the Slash wah alot, one of the best wah's I ever played... smooth due to the 18 volts, and has a really awesome "fuzz" feature on it, that's great for occasional use. The EVH Flanger is also 18 volts, and has the sweetest flagner sound i've heard.

Cheers ! :friday:

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Here's to keeping the thread alive:)
So My rig changes every year, but here she is as of now.

Solace performer series solid body guitar,( custom built) I have 3.
- One has JB/Jazz setup
- P90's x2 in other
- Phat Cat set in 3rd.

Goes into pedalboard.
Boss tuner--tubescreamer--Blues driver--big muff-- compressor--stereo chorus--stereo delay--

Now It splits into two amps,

Amp 1 -- Vox AD30 VT. Channel 1 rock, channel 2 jazz. Closed 12"
Amp 2 - - Hand wired Dave Hunter two stroke amp. Open backed 12",

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

As of today:
Les Paul Standard or Fender Tele (American, ash body) -> Green Screamer -> Classic Wah -> Marshall Regenerator -> Ibanez AD9 Delay -> Marshall JCM900 2 X 12 combo.

Today I am going to add another OD pedal though......

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

custom strat w/ texas hots tuned open E

spina wah
vox valvetone
boss tuner
whirlwind a/b/y
h&k rotosphere

'66 fender deluxe reverb
celtic aislinn 6v6

things have changed a little, still have alot of the same guitars and amps and all the pedals but there have been changes. these are what i would use in a typical month gigging now

guitars:
fender strat with surfers n&m with custom shop alnico II hot tapped tele for strat bridge
fender strat with classic stack + set and clapton electronics
esquire with my ugd alnico II tapped hot tele pup
lp special with pg set
hamer daytona with strabro90 set

timmy and my boss tu2 are always in the bag and the king of tone looks like its here to stay so that will ride in there too.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Here is my rig so far... Its not done. Im still working on geting pedals to fill the board but so far I love everything I have. I have an EVH Phase 90 on the way and still want an ISP Decimator and a chorus.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Currently, I play into POD X3 hooked into a Tech 21 PowerEngine 60 (a 112 cab with built-in poweramp)... and soon I'll be hooked into two of those in stereo :)

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

hmmm. . . 1986 MIJ Tele with lil 59 and duncan hot neck or 1987 MIJ Strat with Fralin blues special in neck and SSL-5s > boss tu2 > Lovetone Big Cheese > Big Muff w/ tone wicker > Hotcake> Carbon Copy > 1964 Fender Tremolux head and 2x12 cab w/ a G12h30 and alnico Weber 1230

pretty simple I guess.

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

Gibson SG Standard-Blackouts
Hamer USA Standard with 59/custom
Gibson Explorer pro 496/500

Into:
Boss tuner>>Maxon od9 pro+>>Chicago Iron Parachute (like tychobrahe parapedal)>>>Boss EQ>>>MXR analog delay>>boss DD3

Into:
Laney VC100
Mesa single rectifier (on its way)

Looking into an a/b/y pedal to run both together

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

dont skimp on your aby
a/b pedals are usually fine but once you split the signal to two amps at the same time if you dont have a good pedal there is noticeable loss. not gonna be cheap but even the whirlwind for $100 isnt that good, spend the extra to get a good one like a switchbone

Re: What's your RIG? This means you LEW.

At the moment my favorite rig is my G&L ASAT Special//cord//Peavey Classic 50. Noice.
