Well, what would be your uptimate blues rig? I'd like to see some other peopkes ideas of good amps/guitars for playin' the blues. Here's mine

Gibson Les Paul Classic with 57 Classic's
Marshall JMP or Fender Super Reverb
Boss DS 1

....And you?

Re: What's your Ultimate Blues Rig?

Strat or a Tele...(Vintage style pickups)
BF Deluxe Reverb Amp or BF Pro Reverb or Super Reverb
Tube Screamer

Use the volume control on my guitar all night to go back and forth between clean and blues grit for leads...Neck,middle and neck/middle tones mostly..

Re: What's your Ultimate Blues Rig?

John Suhr carved top dual humbucker tele.
hotrodded marshall plexi
tc electronics g force
fulltone fulldrive and the blue fulltone (booster), tubescreamer and a snarling dogs wah

Re: What's your Ultimate Blues Rig?

Bc Rich Beast with Emg's and Ibanez K7 for backup
Randall X2 Warhead for Cleans, and a Mid Scooped Fender 59'Bassman for Dirty in case i wanna play something heavy :laugh2:
Oh and i'd get my bassist to make sure he has a Bass similar to Gene Simmons "axe"

A good Strat + tube screamer + BF Princeton Reverb and a TON of heart
and soul. :D

I had to laugh out loud thinking of sitting in on a blues jam with that rig.

Personally, I'd go with a '62 Fender Tele (original issue) through a Fender Bassman. No pedals. Not the most versatile rig, but MAN, it would sound bluesy.

Re: What's your Ultimate Blues Rig?

An alder/maple tele with antiquities or CS nocaster pus through pretty much any tweed fender amp.

or a strat with alnico pros or antiquities into a brownface or blondeface tremolux, vibroverb or vibrolux.

Or a McCarty soapbar into a bf super reverb.

Re: What's your Ultimate Blues Rig?

All I played in the 90's was blues and bluesrock, and got to open for bands like Govt Mule, members of Allmans, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Blues Traveler, and Eric Sardinas, and bunch of others.

At that time, I was using Fender Strats with 54's or Fat 50's into a Dunlop Wah, Fulltone FDII (orange), Fulltone 69, Voodoo Lab Vibe, split out to a Blues Pearl rig that was custom made. I had a cost deal endorsement with Blues Pearl, so I had a bunch of them. I usually had a highgain BP head in stereo with a BP Bluesmaster. They're basically like vintage Fender, but navy/white instead of black/silver.

Right now, I'm doing more modern rock with the Bogner/Les Paul/McCarty/Strat, but last time I did a blues gig, I used my beatup sunburst strat, Klon, Chieftain. It sounds like a more British sounding Stevie Ray tone. The Chieftain is kinda like cross between a Bassman and JTM 45.

My Grosh through a Fuchs ODS (Dumble clone).

A Bruno S100 would be even better :32:

My Sheraton with Phat Cats through my Bassman head and my Vox Buckingham cab loaded with a Jensen and a Celestion V30. The volume on the amp is set right at the point where I can go from clean to dirty just by fiddling with the guitar's volume knobs or varying my pick attack.
