When I get rich ...

Re: When I get rich ...

I m not here just for the bump ... there is an update.

The Callaham saddle screws will not work with my (unmodified) Wilkinson by Gotoh bridge. The adjustment (not height) screw diameters are slightly too large. Since I really wanted to play and not brave the rain to get my drill out of the truck I took my time and painstakingly dialed in the Wilky WT3 bridge with the swivel style barrels. Even though I don't like the thought of the strings crossing the bridge at anything other than 90 degrees my ears can't detect any wierdness. I have the intonation sounding great and never touched the nut.

I am pleased. I could have saved myself a few dollars if I had been more patient in the first place.

Got a drill press? If so, just get a cheap milling table for it from Harbor Freight, get the appropriate size of brass bar stock (its cheap), and make your own.

#1 thing is to get that nut set up properly.

Each string only has 2 nodes: the nut and the saddle.

If you know the nut ain't right, you can't start on the saddles yet.

I was ready to do whatever it took including getting out the nut files. The nut came from the factory very well dialed in. Once I got the bridge set right I was surprised by how accurately the nut was cut at the factory. Even the C note on the B string was extremely close as were the the G# and A notes on the G string.

I took the plunge - $140 for a good set. Ouch.
