When is a good time to get a new 57' reissue?

Re: When is a good time to get a new 57' reissue?

great post. I see another poor soul got bamboozled by the Gibson Corporation! ;)

Ain't it great? How do you like the Burstbucker pups in that 18 watt?

Also, is the back really natural, or is that what the reddish back looks like in full sun? I couldn't tell.

Yep, I caved!!! The BB's sound great - I had a three hour jam today with old bandmates and played the lester through the 18 watt the entire time - nothing but smiles, just the right amount of crunch but cleans up nicely with a lighter pick attack (or volume), I used an A/C booster for some added overdrive and it sounded wonderful!

The back is natural - I think the sunlight was messing with the color some in my digital camera.

I've been somewhat anti Gibson for a few years mostly due to flakey quality control I was seeing at GC and other mass dealers, but I found if I spent some time looking around there are excellent Les Pauls to be found - I don't think the price I paid is excessive, I compared this guitar with at least a dozen other pauls, suhrs, bakers and PRS's and it felt right and was priced lower than any of the other guitars I checked out.

I will say one thing for those interested in picking up any gibby, you need to get out and play a few and compare to find the one you like the best, I A/B's two goldtops where I bought my guitar and couldn't believe the difference in tone between the two guitars. I picked the guitar that sounded best to me ears through my amp - I'm glad I took the time to demo through my equipment.

Great! I'm drooling all over my shirt! Thanks a bunch! Seriously, man, that's a beautiful piece. Enjoy.

Playing multiple guitars is great advice....glad you had that opportunity. The only large music store here in Charlotte is GC. I'm lucky if they have one each of the top end guitars...plenty of Epi's to compare. Charlotte is lacking in good guitar stores that I have found. Makes me take more chances on the net, which have worked out.

How much does that GT weigh?

According to the old baby scale I pulled out of the garage it weight just a hair under 9 lbs.
