Yes, I am total ignorant but after my first and only SD with a JB experience it's in my brain. But I will test other pups in the future.

When I think of Seymour Duncan, I think of.... "Salvation"
I know it sounds dramatic, but several of my guitars have been dissappointing almost to the point of selling, or at least setting ablaze.
That is until I swap the Pup's out for SD's. IMO they have brought VAST improvements to every instrument I've installed them in.
They can make a decent guitar good, a good guitar great, and a great guitar crappy again... JK.... a great guitar PERFECT, or as close to perfect as I personally will ever aspire to.

Well there goes my .02 yet again.

Though that JB was the worst pickup I've ever heard... And I've had BC rich pickups.

When it comes to Seymour Duncan pickups, I think they have the perfect tone. All of the guitarists that I really enjoy listening to have Duncan pickups. Sure, I like a few other pickups from other brands, but, depending on the particular guitar I have and what style of music I want to play with it, I know that there is a Seymour Duncan pickup out there with the perfect tone for all applications and instruments.

59. For some reason, I can't help but think of the 59 as the "foundation" Duncan pup. Its the baseline.

Transparent.

You put a Duncan in a crappy guitar, and it will sound better, but still crappy. Put one in a great guitar, it'll make it greater.

Thats why alot of people on Ultimate guitar like Dimarzios - They don't listen for the wood they are buying.. so Dimarzio (which always sounds like a dimarzio) is always an improvement.

If i see a guitar with duncans, i think to myself 'Well this person at least knows something about tone and guitars'.

I had a set in my bright 96 LP Standard.

They sounded awesome.

I thought I'd try them in my warmer / duller LP Classic.

They sounded awesome.

They are the perfect pickups for a Les Paul.
