Where did all the SG owners go ?

Re: Where did all the SG owners go ?

First, MikeS, I cant say I like that color, but then again, it very gorgeous guitar.. HMMmmm Its like that pink mist color they used on charvels in the 80s. The color isnt manly ,but makes an amazing guitar and I want one.. I love way the paint tapers down the back of the neck and the pearl binding.. Looks like a great axe!

Rainsong, LOVE that Silverburst SG! Yeah, a C5 in the bridge will sound amazing!!

cstony111, I dont get those tones from mine, but Ive never tried. Krieger played Fender amps and I dont and I dont think its possible to cop Carlos'tone... (otherworldly)

I do love my G400 tho. It amazes me everytime I play it.

I got an early 70s SG with the original T Tops and it was repainted to look like Clapton's old SG. The frets are pretty worn down and it does not have the original bridge, which I think is now an ABR or something...? When I was first given the guitar I brought it to a vintage specialist and he said it wasnt the original. I really want to get an original bridge, or atleast design, and put in a set of Seth Lovers, make this bad boy a real vintage tone. I don't care for the T Tops right now at all, but the nonoriginal bridge could be having a negative effect on the tone. I've considerd selling it many a time, but its one of a kind!

I don't know how I overlooked this thread for so long. Here's a picture of an '06 '61 RI that I still own and an '04 Standard that I sold to a friend shortly after taking these pictures. Both are great guitars but the '61 fits my tonal needs better.

Thanks. It's a very tough color to photograph. It's a bit darker than the pictures capture. The color is ReRanch Coppertone Metallic.

Why do you say it's not really an SG?

Bolt-on maple neck. If I didn't say it wasn't really an SG the purists would have a conniption fit. ;)

Don't take this the wrong way, but that's a beautiful pair.

i can't stop staring at those two red SGs. I don't even like red but...:saeek: so cool!

Re: Where did all the SG owners go ?

I'd like to see Clapton get back to his roots and play an SG live doing some really heavey cream style blues.

What do you think of this ?

James
I've heard of them but I've never played one, they look cool though. However, I'm never completely sold on something that's MIK. MIJ, generally is pretty safe but the other Asian countries can be hit or miss in terms of the quality of components. Of course if you didn't mind spending a little more money you could always upgrade the electronics. They also don't appear to come with cases, so at $455 plus shipping, they're quite expensive.

Here's an updated pic of my SG stable that I took a few weeks ago.

'06 '61 RI and '08 GotW Special with my Victoria Electro King

Man those Cherry SGs look so awesome. I know brown is a bit more "authentic" but I love that cherry and mahogany look.
