lets just say that you cant get a marshall or mesa distortion out of a pedal (although some people swear by this carl marton one called i think "plexi" somehting) maybe there are some expensive pedals that will get you close, but there are a lot of great amps that have stellar cleans and distortions.

i kinda like modest mouse and bachman turner overdrive (two completley different bands, i know)
ummmm. not anything over $1000 i suppose, it will take me a while to save up the $700 for that fender hot rod deluxe; if i were to get it

hmm.... maybe you should save up for a standard fender strat, or a cheap hh guitar of some sort, in addition to like a 500 dollar range amp. people are always suggesting traynor. ive never personally played them but they might be a good option to look into.

The Peavy is the better choice of the two. I owned a Hot Rod, and while it has a great clean channel, I didn't care for the OD at all.
You can get several good all tube amps in the $500, $700 range. Traynor Blue 50....Fender cleans and Marshall OD in one. Crate also has some really nice tube combo's out that are getting rave reviews. Marshall JCM800 combo's are at the top end of your range...$700+, but look for the JCM600 series....great amp for the $$, or some of the JTM 60's and 30's. Lots of choices.
I highly suggest searching eBay and finding a good deal on a used amp, of whatever interest's you. I've bought all of my amps used, and have never had any issues. You get more bang for your buck used, IMO.

I'll add my vote to the C30 recommendations. Given your preferences. a used Traynor is not a bad option either.
I've never really cared for the Marshall sound, particularly with a Strat.
I like Boogies, but they are not very versatile, in my limited experience.
