I have an eclipse from before, which i absolutely love. And i totally love the finish on both, but the EVH has a bit longer scale length and smaller frets which i am sceptical about.
NOTE: The EMGS will be ripped out ASAP if i get the esp.

Ha! Same here BUT if I had to choose between the two I'd take the EVH–MIA with a Quartersawn Maple neck = bliss :headbang:

That finish is not available with passive pickups.

The EVH has active pickups? I didn't think any of the EVH branded pickups were Actives...

In that case, it has to be the Eclipse followed by some wheeler dealing on the pickups and electronics. Somebody will buy the Solderless EMGs - even without cables and controls.

If it is EMG-81/-60 pickups that you specifically object to, the existing Quik Connect wiring harness presents other possibilities. Duncan Blackouts, Live Wire Classic IIs, EMG-57/-66 or, with some additional wiring work, Fishman Fluence pickups.

I would even come close to buying either. For half that $ I could buy a really good playing, good sounding, and importantly, good looking guitar (much better looking than either of those).

The ESP. The EII series are really great for the money, and personally I never thought the wolfgangs were worth the money.

ESP, I played one and couldn't put it down. I am not an EMG guy but that guitar ripped!

I'll go against the flow and say EVH. It has more of its own thing going than the LP-inspired ESP.
